The winningest coach in LSU history.
Has a National Title, 2 SEC titles and another appearance.
It's not easy to win. Miles won big for a decade. He won at 2 programs.
He has a record 98% of coaches would give their left nut for.
As you said, he's LSUs winningest coach and that will be true for a long time.
Maybe forever.

he still couldn’t get back to the more open attacking offense he had from 2005-2007
We didn't win a title in 2006 b/c he wanted a conservative dinosaur offense.
Things just got a lot worse once Jimbo's 2 QBs left the program so Miles got even more dinosaur

I'm not sure how I view him, really. It's a mixed bag for me.
He was the head coach here for 11 and 1/2 seasons.
With Mettenberger being the exception, Miles won 9 games 6 times AFTER 2007 while playing "hide the quarterback" in the SEC. We know this is incredibly difficult to do.
I think Miles and staff did a great job over the years of bringing in really good talent everywhere except QB. Our teams were always tough and physical and we were in every game throughout his tenure, minus 8 to 10.
He did a solid job of maintaining strong teams. His worst 2 seasons here were 8 and 5. He never went .500 or had a losing season. There's something to be said for that.
But there is no way I could ever say he was elite. Not even close. I often wonder would our program could have been like had we brought in a top tier coach right behind Saban.

good coach who got beat by the times
The 'uh "times" and the game had already passed him by while he was still at Oklahoma State.
Hints of moral turpitude just came later, but were even more reason why he shouldn't ever have been here to begin with.

Only through a tall glass of bourbon

The guy won us a 'ship, and then proceeded to waste the great accumulation of talent in the history of college football.

Like a guy that hopped in an 18 wheeler rolling down the interstate and all he had to do was steer. Lsu should have cut bait instead of giving him a raise/extension - it would have saved a lot of grief and money.
