How did we go from DBU to Rent-a-DBU?

One thing LSU has always been able to do is recruit elite athletes at the skill positions…especially WR and DB. This year, those 2 groups and specifically the DBs are looking less than average. How did this happen?!?

O was more worried about the blondes at the golden nugget day pool and Raymond went on cruise control with some awful evals.

Those two completely depleted the secondary and we’re forced to go through the portal until some of these young guys develop.

I’m at the point now where BK just needs to throw guys into the fire.

Stop blaming O. With the portal and recruits being able to play so early now there is no excuse for it to be this bad. Did we forget we started a true freshman as our number 1 corner in 2019? It’s on Kelly to fix this and he’s done very little to improve it.

Probably the most overrated coach in rant history. Look at the previous recruiting classes and see where his guys are.

Stingley was his last good recruit. How many years ago was that? He left us with scrubs.

He’s currently pulling Louisiana talent at positions of need for LSU. Overrated my arse.

Keep ignoring the issues

Agree. Dummies on here are salty over raymond.
They'd like to take a crap on one of their own.
Best damn secondary recruiter i've ever seen.

Florida sucks and his DB class is 10x better than ours. Raymond > Steeples

Stop blaming O

This. Kelly has had 2 recruiting cycles now to get elite DB’s. If we are going to blame O for leaving the cupboard empty, we need to start blaming Kelly for not signing elite DB’s. And might I mention, McGlothern was preseason 1st team SEC for Arkansas and Kelly ran him off.

Kind of a perfect storm of things:

- coaching change probably cost us a few guys that would've been here in that '22 class
- transfer rule changes (that have kinda worked both for and against us TBH)
- questionable development of the guys we got (looking at Welch as an example)
- BK booting Nudie McG (no judgment on BK if the kid was screwing up and bad for the team, just saying it happened)

We look to have some talent between our current freshmen and some of the guys we got coming in the next class. And Welch and Denver are still young. Can we coach em up?

We played a bowl game with 39 players, and had a total of 56 guys on our roster when Orgeron left.

His recruiting classes were way overrated by the time you factored in attrition and missed evaluations.

BK has not gotten all of his targets at DB, but I do think he will be able to replenish the DB room eventually.

Now we recruit the right fit so we can develop them to play in 3 years
