You don't know what would have happened to Coker had that fight not happened.

Based on what? Just an assumption or some supposed contacts among Miami officials? Should be an interesting answer.

Miles will be fine. His recruiting skills are very tight. He has 2 very good coaches in place to help him out.And i think myself that he is a very good coach.Makes very good game changing decisions.I hate the fact we have some people already discussing firing him.

It's always important for a coach to produce. This season is no exception.

While last season's won/loss performance was not up to standards, Miles produced the greatest recruiting class in LSU history last year, has brought in a highly qualified DC, and is producing another great recruiting class for 2010.

Any idiot calling for Miles to be replaced for not winning the SEC West this year is just that, an idiot.

It is critical for miles to do well, but i think we will be fine. He has never lost a bowl game coaching LSU... we have also never had a losing season... look for LSU to turn it around this year and do great things, such as beat Florida's.... !

Think we need to wait and see how LSU performs before deciding if its critical or not. On the surface, no. If the team looks like it did last season, possibly. But, no way does Miles get fired this season. IF, LSU looks lost, personnel decisions are bad and the defense makes all conference contenders out of opposing QB's every week, then this thread may be appropriate a year from now. Two years of not playing up to your talent would make this thread appropriate.

Thing is I don't think the fight and Larry Coker can be separated. I think it resulted directly from his total and utter lack of control of the program.

So IMHO you blame the fight for his firing you're blaming Lary Coker.

I just think there's some sensitivity and misplaced loyalty in defending Coker. I think some folks are really defending Miles by Proxy.

I just think Coker was a mediocre head coach at best, even with 35-2 his first three years noted, and I think you'll see that play out in how he finishes his professional career.

But that is separate from Miles. Comparisons will continue only if Miles allows them to by performance. Miles conrols his own destiny.

Yep. Les hasn't exactly had too many steady years as far as assistants. What I mean is he & Jimbo didn't get along, so he hired Gary. Then Bo got the Nebraska job, then Mallory/Peveto & now Chavis. Hopefully things will settle a bit now, but it's part of modern day coaching.

I agree with this, but even if Miles goes 10-2 this season, there'll still be morons ... who couldn't lead a pee wee team thru warm-ups...critiscizing the shite out of him.

Why not??????

so he hired Gary

And Miles still wanted to use LEE last year , when it is obvious that JJ runs Crowton's offense better.

Mallory/Peveto are NOT part of modern day coaching. TOTAL MISTAKE THAT cost LSU at LEAST THREE games last year. MILES FAULT!!!!!

It didn't help that Miami went on after the fight to barely beat Duke and lose 4 in a row before barely beating BC. People also forget this was after he fired a bunch of folks following the 2005 season where we assfricked them in the bowl game. Miami wasn't under sanctions, so he should have been winning the conference.

I don't buy the Coker comparison though. They may have taken over programs that were stocked. They may both be nice guys. They may both be offensive-oriented coaches but that's about it.

I don't disagree. But, who do you think he should have hired instead?
