So, who should Miles have hired besides Malveto? He allegedly went after Muschamp, there was some talk he went after DeWayne Walker. He allegedly interviewed Tenuta.

Who?

I do agree with this. I saw the second to last fall scrimmage and JL was definitely the choice. JJ didn't look near ready at that point.

However, the offensive staff could have IMHO played this much better than they did.

They vacillated on whether to play JJ and when they did they didn't give him enough or meaningful snaps even though they had the opportunity.

I also thought Crowton was way too bold in his play calling with JL. I guess he felt he was showing confidence in him but it seemed to me he kept calling the plays that JL wasn't ready to make.

The coaches evaluate, recruit, develop, gameplan and call the plays and decide who plays and when.

Those who absolve the offensive staff of any responsibility because RP was booted (finally!!) and JL was so terrible are giving them way too easy a pass. And there are many who want to give them a full pass too.

What other option did Miles have????? NONE!! He should have played him vs. Tulane , instaed of waiting until he HAD TO USE HIM!!! I know you love Miles but he screwed up!!!

Maybe he had the option of using the quarterback that had led the team to a 6-2 record prior to the Alabama game...

well he's failed in terms of accomplishments then and should be under even more fire than the shite people like me give him

AGREED!! A coach that makes HIS money should NOT be 8-5!!

fool's errand, especially with Texas as our competition

he wanted to be a HC

are those really the only 2 he went after (and walker is pure speculation)?

1 championship season (SEC and National), and we went to the national title game with 2 losses

And nobody else deserved to be in that game more than us. A two loss season is nothing to be ashamed of.

we could win the SEC this year. that would help (but it's very unlikely)

If Florida wins it, that's not automatically a knock on us. They have a strong program.

1 year of 8-5 is fine

another similar year right after is concerning

i'm not arguing that

we still lost 2 games. if you expect to win the title often with 2 losses then wow

no it isn't, but if we get embarassed by them in either game (liek we did last year) it would be bad

At least he supposedly made an effort. Couldn't have hired him without making an effort.

Well, he wasn't going to be a HC in 2008.

I don't know. Malveto was not a strong hire. Who should he have hired?

Nick Saban averaged about 9 wins a season and is now making $4 million a year....

Nothing wrong with it.

No, I don't. A 2 loss team may never get in the title game again, much less win it.

Just terrible.

True, one year could be a fluke. Two years is a pattern.

And although most of us think we know, none of us really know what's going to happen.

Again, Miles controls his destiny and we unfortunately for us cause we can't wait, we won't know until it plays out game-by-game.

Your brilliance astounds. I don't see why Miles would be at all hesitant to throw TWO young quarterbacks into the meat-grinder of the SEC.

Miles is are coach now get over saban.

Miles won us a title, a whole title ( we were even AP national champs) even though USC sucks and didnt deserve it in 03...

Miles didnt leave us or quit on. Miles could have gone to michigan but did not, instead he stayed and won us a title... Saban just left us in the dirt and went to MIA dolphins... ( he also didn't coach us right in that last bowl game against Iowa... He did not put in Jamarcuss until the end.)

Saban is a traitor to everyone, LSU and Miami for going to BAMA... He told both LSU and Miami that he was not going to leave... he did anyways. Miles does not think he is better then other people like saban either...

Yea I like miles a lot more then saban, and after we beat bama again it will be: miles 2 saban 1

miles > saban

Saban is not our coach anymore everyone needs to get over it!

Ahem....

For the record, we still beat Iowa if the "defensive guru" plays prevent defense on the last play of the game.
