BK firing Moffitt and letting Raymond walk told me all I needed to know about him.

Kelly also fired the best special teams Coach and brought in his man,

Special teams were responsible for several losses after he arrived.

Getting J Daniels, hid Kelly's incompetence fora a while. But it was bound to be exposed.

Kelly made tons of mistakes. Getting rid of 2021 Raymond and Moffitt weren’t among them. Both had been here too long and were complacent as frick. Raymond was griping about not getting promotions and the team evidently just ignored Moffit. We were almost as soft and just as injury prone his last two seasons as the next two. Almost.

The issue wasn’t firing them. It was not hiring the right replacements. At least Raymond was motivated and over any bullshite when he came back, because what we’ve had the last two seasons was NOT what we were getting in 20 and 21. As for Moffit- there are better and even more important, younger out there. We had the money and name to land someone like that and Kelly just made the wrong hire.

ETA: it is possible that he did “grow stale” or the “game passed him by” after 2019 (I don’t think so) and getting fired by Brian Kelly & the opportunity for revenge at A&M lit a fire under him. Either way glad it worked out, but I still hate the idea of Moffitt saying “gig em”

Complacency can affect anyone. Raymond was at the end and so was Moffitt.

The rabble here will anoint him their God because he pushed a bad LSU team around, but his team sure as frick didn’t do that to Texas or Miami. Even with him closer to his best today, there’s still better and younger on the market.

times a gazillion, and LSU(boosters I guess,) shouldn't have to pay his buyout because of that

Something that isn't spoken very often is the pushback against paying BK his remaining contract was to appease those people. I know because I deal with them on a regular basis. Anyone with any real connection to reality understood that the contract is iron-clad, hardly any way to get out of it unless BK decided to drive a motorcycle with the dean's daughter on the back.

Coach O lost the team as a whole after the natty. That much is obvious. Two bad years when your head coach imploded doesn’t negate the 8 years before that when you were elite.

Same goes for Moffitt. Dude has been a part of 3 national championship teams. That alone tells you his ability to adapt.

I will say, though, that with the state of college football and how no one stays at a school to get developed anymore, the S&C coach isn’t AS important. Still important, but the role has definitely changed

1. Brian Kelly sucked and did not field an SEC worthy team

2. Moffitt doesn’t offer the value he once did and Kelly was right to move on if the goal was to field a championship program

3. He misfired with his replacement

These are not mutually exclusive realities, retards

This board likes to say Moffitt was stale, which is the LSU fans way of coping. But the dude is and always has been one of the best in the business.

Yap

LSU was playing more walk ons than I ever remember at the end of moffitts tenure. The recruiting had fallen off big time. People wanted Moffitt to make Jared small into Ray Lewis
