This loss is on the play of Martin and Quarterman. Their play was pathetic. Not to mention it meant Malone had to play more, that's like playing 4 on 5 basketball. What a waste of space.

He can coach them to take better shots, move without the ball, draw up better sets, settle them down with needed timeouts and so on. You know, stuff coaches do.

This loss is on players causing stupid turnovers and failing to hit free throws...if the coach is at fault for them not being ready to play in the first half, then that's on him. But I say that is their responsibility, too. They aren't 8th graders.

Because it was more of the same. I'm sure he advised them to take the layups when we were down 6 with under 30.

Meanwhile, telling them to straight up jack 3's no matter what for the other 39:30.

And good God, how obvious is it that the offense does not run well with Gray at point?? Give it a f'ing rest!

I agree with the OP...this team has no depth. LSU has two good players and four decent players. When one of two good ones does nothing(Martin today) LSU needs two or three guards to step up. LSU has four decent guards and one didn't play. Josh scored 13 points but turned it over many times, Hornsby scored some as well, but look at his three point %. Tim had a horrible game. Patterson didn't play. Even Mickey was 3-10 on free throws. I'm not sure this is a tournament team other than the NIT.

I had hoped the Tigers would win out until UK, because the last 8 games are going to be tough.

I thought Malone, Epps, and Bridgewater all played well for their limited capabilities.

The players didn't play well and the coaches didn't do any creative coaching. JJ does not know what to do with a zone unless our players are hot from 3-point range. There is a reason why just about every team plays zone against us. The fact that we don't penetrate or try to penetrate the zone is coaching. Team loss.

He would average 7 so we still lose with that extra 4

While I agree with this, we have no one that can penetrate the zone and handle the ball without turning it over.

I'm with the OP... This isn't all on CJJ.

TQ went 1/10 and was jacking up 3s from the timeline and wasting key possessions late in the game. He killed us the last few minutes with taking horrible shots.

And Hornsby had a decent game, 15pts, but did go 5/17 shooting. I like Hornsby and he think he should get 10 shots a game or so... But 17 is too much.

And Martin only had 4 shots. He needs to demand the ball more because he is our best offensive player.... But at the same time, our players need to do a better job at getting him the ball. It seemed like he barely touched it today. And gotta give some credit for Miss St D on him. But we've gotta find ways to get him the ball more. And it's a combo of Johnny Jones not drawing up plays to get Martin the ball and our players not making a point to get him the ball. In our half court offense, if Martin doesn't get at least 1 touch, it's a bad possession. I mean out of Martin, Mickey, TQ, Hornsby, Gray, and Epps... Martin tied for the fewest shots with Epps with 4 shot attempts. And it seemed like he never had the ball and we never looked for him or went his way, which is a bad possession IMO.

Musselman Jr was brought aboard to supposedly dress up JJ and his Staff's X&O deficiencies..

But, I'm not really seeing it.

I remember him being on Moscona's Show the day hired, and Matt specifically angled some questions towards him about being brought to X&O/Hoops IQ upgrade the team and staff in an indirect way..

Musselman blew Lewinskis to JJ, never throwing a staff and team he'd yet to work with under the bus..

If this is the incremental X&O/Hoops IQ/Fundamentals growth we can expect from he and this staff each year..

JJ is gonna need more Assistant Coach All-World Godsons!
