Just enjoy him for what he is, a wild animal we're fortunate to have on campus. Hopefully most of us have evolved from the era when they kept a tiger in a tiny cage and prodded him to roar for the amusement of drunken idiots in the stands.

No doubt. Mike is King.

since they got him into the trailer before, and the tiger found out that he was brought to the games if he got into the trailer, then I will surmise, he did not like being at the games, since he wont get into the trailer now.

I think the no-roar "feature" is interesting data.

LINK /

apparently tigers have two roars.

one is not audible to most humans, as it is a very low sound.

link gets into why tigers roar and about each kind of roar.

I didn't see this already talked about in the rest of the thread...where was he prior to the game? We went by his cage around 6 or 7pm Friday night and he wasn't there, so we went back at 11am and noon on Saturday, still no sign of him. It was my son's 1st LSU home game and he was really looking forward to seeing Mike.

The aforementioned Advocate article said (I think) that they never let him into his habitat on game day because then for sure they'd never get him to load into the trailer. And since they bring him in at some point each evening to feed him and secure him for the night, there's probably a lengthy period prior to games when he isn't in the habitat.

Come back on Sunday after Mass.

I agree, if auburn can train, not one but 3, wild eagles-who by the way were not born in captivity & came to them in poor health- to fly around a stadium and land at midfield, you would think LSU could get a tiger in a trailer 6 or 7 times a year.

You gonna use that as your example? The bird just flew into the pressbox glass at the last game. It's not like they let the MSU bulldog chase down a mailman before the game. It's fricking Tiger, does it really have to roar?

Not to mention after the bird flew into the glass it flew across the endzone super lowand scared the frick out of several people and some were betting on the number of games before it tried to snatch a child out of the stands.

I am sick of this tiger faking injuries, illnesses and dealing with his low self esteem and his aversion to crowds. Mike VI is a big pussy and will go down as the lamest tiger we have ever purchased. Send him to the Baker Zoo and let's go out and find a tiger with a set of balls.

This is what we get for buying a used tiger. Next time I hope we are smart and purchase a tiger cub.

Mike and his handler's have gone soft,
the least he could do is ride around in his chariot
and hang out in his crib on game day. One of the biggest reasons he is here and a very fair trade for his care and 3 million dollar digs.

We should campaign to "bring back the retro Mike Attitude" maybe we can show him pics of how happy Mike 5 was to leave his hell hole.

Mike VI needs a female mate. If he is in heat, he will roar and feel more upbeat. Mike needs love just like all of us.

Seriously though.

There is a tiger out there that will do what we want it to do....be a mascot.

Seems like we could do an even swap with some zoo.

It couldn't get any worse with how inactive he is, as far as his mascot role

They should take him on trips down River Road to maybe help him adjust to it. Go let him watch the cattle.
