How big has Avery Atkins been the last 2 yearsPosted by Yeti_Chaser on 1/2/20 at 11:08 am

It's nice have a former all state safety as your kicker. He saved a TD against Oklahoma, had the big fumble recovery against Georgia last year and has made a few other tackles on kickoffs the last 2 years. All in addition to booming balls into the endzone consistently...something we used to struggle with. Another good job by Coach O in finding and picking up transfers

Agreed. Hello there Mrs Atkins

The tackle against Oklahoma was fantastic. Not hard to believe he was an all-state safety.

Been awesome, but to your last point he wasn’t a transfer. We got him out of high school.

People forget Avery Atkins was an all-state safety at Auburn HS. His highlight reel is filled with him knocking skulls. However, I'm pretty sure he came here as a freshman and wasn't a transfer.

Said the same thing last year when he dove to the bottom of the pile to recover the fumble against UGA. Said it again on that OU kickoff return. He's a great asset and we've got him two more years

Not a transfer. Was a 6A all-state safety. Had offers to play safety at a few smaller smaller schools. As another poster said his highlight reel is full of him blowing people up. Worth a look if you've never watched it.

Big Cat Drill with Avery Atkins going against Tory Carter would be pay-per-view television.

Yep.
Gets another A grade. Thought for sure he was getting tossed for hitting some Auburn kid on the sideline in the 2nd half.

You can believe when he makes those plays it electrifies the team and makes him an even stronger member of the special teams.

Not only this, but made sure that the call to not kick another touchback did not burn the team. Whether is was intentional or not, he cleaned it up really well.
Gilbert was a freshman at LSU this past season.
I could watch them do that for a while.
