I’d take Paz on Fridays over Schmidt… at least he has potential

Are you seriously comparing South Carolina at home vs quite possibly the best lineup in the country on the road in one of the most home run friendly ball parks in said country?

Cowan is the only pitcher on the team with 10+ innings in SEC games and a better ERA than Paz.

2.55 ERA 24.2 IP Cowan
3.46 ERA 13.0 IP Paz
3.55 ERA 12.2 IP Garcia
3.55 ERA 12.2 IP Fontenot

From an earned run perspective, our best 4 in SEC are available for today and tomorrow.

I’m not sure about that I’d say they are pretty comparable to this point.

Agree, if Schmidt wants too much money next year cut bait.

Paz has an elite slider. Maybe the best pitch on this staff. Think of Ty Floyd’s fastball. He probably will be the best pitcher on this staff at some point once he develops an arsenal he can command with it.

I have to disagree. Smitty shite himself when Jay gave him a chance on weekends. Yes Smitty has improved alot since last season. Paz was not. Paz hasnt panicked. I think Paz is just better than when Smitty was a freshman and will be nails next season. Jmo of course.

Cmon man nearly half of those came against South Carolina. He’s looked better lately, but I can’t think of a tougher situation for him than what he’s about to walk in to tonight.

I mean, I dont know about all that. Smitty has improved from last season. He fought out of an early jam in the 1st inning where he would have totally lost it last yr. Uga is pretty good and he held them. I think Smitty will be a solid weekend guy next season. He is very close this year.

Jay needs to find 2 studs on the mound for next season. There is no excuse for the amount of runs we give up. At least 10 games were lost this season after putting up 7/8/9 runs and lose cause we dont have the stoppers on the mound. Evans/Smitty went through alot of rocky growing pains this season. Jmo.

That’s fair, before last week I would say they are comparable, but I don’t think smitty would’ve had that good of an outing even a against sc.
