Smith being hurt was a major piece that was missing this year that could have had a big positive impact on the season. Broussard was batting over .400 before his injury. He came back in the middle of SEC play three weeks after having plates put in his hand, and could barely grip a bat. I'm confident that those two will be a great middle-infield combo for next year.

Every year since 10.The is college baseball the least competitive of the big 3 college sports and we have people happy LSU finished in the top 32

LSU basketball has made the tournament once and they are more competitive than baseball who had made the tournament the last 7 years, well have only missed the tournament 3 times since 1989. So this is the stupidest thibg someone has every written on this board.

LSU baseball has been the most successful of the big three this decade. Basketball has sucked, football had one great year but than 1/9 happened. This year for baseball was an exception to our success. I fully suspect we will be a top 10 team again next year.

One other thing your post is slightly confusing but if you think baseball is less competitive than basketball and football you have no understanding of the sport. 1) mid majors have no chance to win it all I'm football (in baseball a four seed Fresno State did it) 2) top tier basketball teams rarely lose to middle of the road to crappy teams. (Baseball a bad team can and has beat really good teams on occasion)

Baseball is the most competitive sport of the big three. Basketball is still pretty competitive. Football now is Bama and one or two other schools who have a chance to win.

Several major colleges don’t even have teams in the NE.

Some "major schools" don't have football teams.

But which ones are you talking about. All SEC teams have one I believe all ACC all Big 12, all Big 10 etc. The Big East is a basketball conference. So I don't see your point.

Baseball is a sport that gives smaller teams a chance. A school like Fresno State could get three solid starters who were overlooked by the big schools and win it all.

Edit: you are applying football logic to baseball. In Football the powerhouse schools like Bama Ohio State LSU should dominate schools like ULL, Colorado etc. In baseball a school like Stetson who has none of the resources that others have can be competitive.

To further prove my point in 2013 the Astros lost 111 games. 4 years later they win it all and now are the best team in baeeball. The KC Royals won it I think in 15 or 16, now they are putting together a year like the Astros did in 2013. Baseball is a sport that teams can go way up and down in and a few good players can really turn things around. The difference between the worst MLB team and the best isn't as big as basketball and football. Pro Basketball has become the least competitive sport in the country.

So we are pinning next season on these three things.

-a senior to come back and hit some more singles.
- a pitcher with below average fastball coming off of shoulder surgery.
- and a bunch of other pitchers that have pitched very few meaningful innings.

it doesn't matter how these pitchers develop, the offense is horrid

You forget how good Walker was before he was hurt? LSU will have a good Friday night guy.

We used to just reload. That ain’t the case no more!

Just watch next season with this class coming in....that plus the pitchers we get back, plus more experienced players = plenty of reasons to get excited for next year

If the injury bug stays away, we will be loaded with experienced pitchers. We are returning lots of position players. Next year will be an UP year for baseball.

Expecting Walker and Hilliard to return to form next year and penciled into the weekend is overly optimistic. Who knows what those two will look like next year? And what about Hess? Didn’t exactly tear it up as a starter- back to the pen (if he stays)? Forget pitching, we have an issue hitting and expecting freshmen to come in and tear it up is more wishful thinking.

Hilliards arm is sore, he’ll be fine. What makes you think he won’t be as good next year? He only missed the regional. Walker we will see, but he is a special talent with a lot of drive, so I’m optimistic he will be a good pitcher for us next season after recovery.

I think there are plenty of reasons for optimism in 2019 for LSU Baseball.

Duplantis however will not be here. Excellent source on that.

Don't blame him, MLB takes advantage of college seniors and routinely forces them to sign for 50k. What option dooes the player have? If you look at the slot money, he gets over 100K if drafted in top 10 rounds, over 300K if top 5 rounds.

Someone explain it to me. Losing our best hitter (Dup) and the unknowns on the mound with Walker, Hilliard and maybe Hess. I see a worse outcome.

How'd we do after Bregman left?

-Lost in Supers to the eventual CWS champs in 16
-CWS runner-up 17.

OP Don't know shite about how LSU Baseball bounces back/reloads/steps up/etc.

We won't be that much better, Walker, Hilliard, Labas, & Storz are all question marks, IMO
