Is it random, or are there actual set times?

They are random. The school will test throughout the year, while the NCAA only tests after postseason events (playoffs or bowl games).

These guys are idiots. They do it random but at the beginning of each season it's done so they know to prepare. I'm guessing it's more than a lil weed that showed on his tests

The NCAA tests are the ones that really matter, see the TCU qb

Random but for the ones like "I got the munchies" Honey Buns that have been busted before, they can come more often and at any point and time. They know this!

They are "random", but they know approximately when they are going to test because it is around the same time every year.

exactly.

They are given enough hints and time to know when a test is coming up. Which makes this whole TM7 issue even more irritating

Only a few players are tested every week though.

ETA: Also once you test positive a first time, you are subject to more frequent testing.

IMO Tyrann probably tested positive 3+ times for him to be dismissed from the team. Especially if they were helping him out with rehab.

Ruffin Rodrigue Jr. had a funny comment yesterday when talking bout random testing when he was in school. He said that Bill Arnsbarger made the whole team test the Sun after losing to Miami Ohio, half way facietiously saying they had to be on drugs to lose that game.

Out of a hundred something football players you can't tell me TM7 was the only one to fail the drug test!!! Let's just hope the others that failed don't get caught again!!! Maybe this will open the others eyes and show that this coaching staff don't put up with breaking rules no matter who you are. This will help in recruiting in the future because parents like strong ethics in a coaching staff while their kids are away from home. JMO

I'm starting to wonder the same thing.

According to Moscona (he read directly from the LSU drug policy on air yesterday, so as long as it was the actual policy, it's according to LSU), first offense is a warning and counseling, 2nd offense is suspension for 15% of the teams' games (i.e. the Auburn game last year), 3rd offense is 1 year suspension, 4th offense is dismissal from the team.

So, the question is was this the 3rd offense and Mathieu was going to be suspended for the year, so he left in order to play for draft purposes, or was this the 4th offense and we just never heard about the 3rd? I tend to lean towards it being the 3rd because he wouldn't have been practicing had he been facing suspension for the year.

I would guess third offense...but a suspension would effectively kill his career, so lesticles cut him loose so that he could play somewhere before going pro...

I seriously doubt it.
