Dude we scored 10 points at home. Stop with the excuses. Rather you know it or not, a player's mistake falls on the coaches as well. It's no different than a missed block, missed tackle, false start, etc
So Donte giving up the 97yd TD is on Aranda?

Brazos, please forgive my interjection...
didn't beckwith get hurt in the fla game? i was there, and i can tell you that fla ran it between the tackles after beckwith was injured. not at will, but they had success enough to win the game.
this is what turned the game in my opinion.
on a different note, the quote below from butter teeth should be all over the locker room prior to this years game with fla.
"The way I look at it, they got what they deserved -- and it should have been worse," McElwain said.

This year is the least optimistic I have been about LSU football since 1999.

We have 5 games in the start of the season we "should" win before the Florida game
I noticed that when looking at the schedule yesterday. Hopefully that gives the staff an opportunity to look at some of the new quarterbacks, in mop up duty.
We can all pick our favorite that "should be the starter".

Big Walt, welcome aboard! Yes, there is lots of optimism for 2017. This program was stagnant, and needed a recharge. Of course, even with optimism, there will still be the pressure to produce. And Coach O's leash will be short. He knows he has to win, dream job or not. Should be a fun season. Looking forward to it
And on a side note, I told you it wouldn't take you long to get in argument with some of these clowns on here!. Part of the reason I was banned for 2 years!

Etling will be great, the offense unpredictable, and LSU will surprise many.......Guice needs to get alot of touches and be the focal point.

There is a big difference between losing to a superior team and losing due to mistakes. And yes, Florida won the game fair and square, but if you play that game 9 more times LSU probably wins 8. Coaching was not an issue there. The player's mistakes do fall on the coaches ultimately but there were at least 3 non-characteristic blunders that dictated that game. It was a perfect storm of "worst case scenario" and we were still in a position to win at the end. That certainly seems like a reason for optimism more than negativity. Even still, if we're blaming the coaches for the mistakes we should probably wait until the coaches have had more than 5 midseason games.

Optimism is not thinking we're gonna lose 4 or 5 games before the season has started. I'm not delusional - I'm not looking to go undefeated with this young team. I am however, excited to see how this team develops through the course of the season, rather than being negative about anything I can dream up. Is there reason to be optimistic? C'mon man, of course there is. We could both come up with many reasons to be positive. We could come up with just as many reasons to negative. It's a choice.
Giving these coaches time means exactly that. This team is young. The systems these coaches run are new to the players. Nothing great happens overnight.
Answer to your question? Both

So you felt really good about going into the 2016 season with Les at the helm?
I'll be perfectly honest with you on this. Les Miles lost me on Jan. 2012 in New Orleans for the NC game. I was never optimistic after that debacle.
We obviously made the right move in getting rid of Les. I don't see anyone remotely offering him a job.
I'm optimistic about not having to suffer through another coaching debacle as that NC game in New Orleans !!!
So yes, I have my reasons to be more optimistic about this upcoming season than I have for a few years now.

If hoping to get to 10 wins is optimistic, then yes, LSU is mediocre. It's a shame the program was allowed to deteriorate like this

There is only one SEC school who was able to average winning ten games a year from 2005 to 2016...LSU. Sometimes the stupid shite posted here is beyond retarded.

Miles should hold the record for coach wasting the most time outs during a season. That aspect improved 100% in the last 8 games of 2016
Did you miss the Alabama game?

LSU was the only SEC school to average ten wins a year from 2005-2016....FACT!

Wouldn't you like to be optimistic of ever getting there though?

Gave you an up vote even though I always cringe when I click a thread and I see a 500 word essay

Sorry about the long rant there Genestealer 55. I'll try and keep posts a little shorter, and more to the point.
