This paragraph from the The Advocate really got my attention this morning.
quote:

In league play only, Florida is second in scoring 80.0 points a game with the Gators leading the conference in field-goal accuracy at 46.2%; they’re also second in hitting 38.0% of their shots from beyond the 3-point arc.

That and Blackshear has me really nervous for this one. Good article overall from The Advocate.

In SEC play Florida is the only team with a better offensive efficiency than LSU (though minimal). Florida is averaging 111.9 points per 100 possessions while LSU is at 111.7.

Most Florida teams under Mike White have been defensive oriented. This one excels on the offensive side as well. This is the first Florida team ouside the top 25 in defensive efficiency for White. In his 4 previous years they were 14th, 5th, 24th, and 16th. So far this year they are 41st.

Florida has looked good but just a little more into their SEC schedule.

They should have lost to bama at home,
Beat a dogshite SC team
Beat a Ole miss team without Tyree and Sy
Lost to a dogshite Mizzou team
Destroyed a very good Auburn team.

That's all I got

I think I'm worried more about tonight's game because of how poorly we defend the 3 and I just think Mike White is a good coach. But, hopefully being at home is the difference. One thing is for certain though, I'm already pumped for it. Really wish I could make it to the game.

As many of you know, I have been playing AGAINST LSU (pointspread terms) for the last few games and cashing (Pushed on Saturday) But I disagree with most here and LOVE LSU tonight -2.5 And I think you will see this line increase as the day goes on.

Simply put, I need to see Florida do ANYTHING on the road!! ANYTHING! They have losses at UCONN, Butler and MISSOURI with 1 win coming vs SC

And this 80 point SEC barrage is basically skewed by the 104-98 DOUBLE OT win vs Bama

To me this game comes down to one thing that a poster mentioned earlier REBOUNDING! MSU crushed us on the boards 49-31 and Florida can rebound well at times However, I think Omar Payne is terrible right now!!! The kid has had one good game in his career and that was off of about 8 offensive rebound/put backs!! Just don't see him doing that tonight! He is gifted athletically, but he has one option....rebound!

Now, all that being said, Marlon Taylor HAS to show up!! Depth issues are still similar to last Saturday, but if Marlon even comes CLOSE to what he gave us on Saturday, I think we win 76-65 type game!

I think Florida struggles on the road against our terrible crowd (lol) and we continue undefeated in SEC!! Let's stay away from these "silly" turnovers and I am laying the -2.5 tonight at home!!!

Pnels-

I like your thinking but I totally disagree on Auburn being VERY good. I think they are VERY Average Find me 1 good win they have on the year?

NC STATE?
Colgate?
Furman?

They beat MSU on the road in Weatherspoon's first game back and barely got past a BAD Vandy team!

But I digress off Florida, but in general, agree with your scheduling angle!!

Like most teams (save Auburn), they have their best 3pt games against LSU for whatever reason

Probably. But you could say the same about LSU vs. Miss. St.

quote:

Beat a dogshite SC team

That game was in SC...who is Kentucky's only (conf) loss thus far

quote:

Lost to a dogshite Mizzou team

Mizzou is not a great team. But that night they were. They shot a ridiculous 62% from the field. Including 12/19 from 3 (63%). NO ONE was beating Mizzou that night.

If you look at the stats/ratings, LSU and Florida are pretty even. That's why LSU is a 2.5 favorite tonight at home. Certainly it appears UF has started to turn the corner and look more like the team they were predicted to be at the beginning of the season. However, one thing to maybe keep in mind is that Florida hasn't been very good on the road this season. They've played a really tough schedule, but they are just 1-3 in true road games. And though they looked great vs. Auburn on Sat., that game was in Gainesville.

For their part, LSU is pretty much the same team home or away. They are going to score on you at your place. They are going to score on you at their place. They are going to crash the offensive glass regardless of venue.

Even though they can be frustrating at times, I like the same LSU team we've seen in the last 5 games to show up tonight. Past results this season suggest we might see a different Fla. team on the road than what we saw on Sat.

Need to get solid game out of Days. Will need to win the turnover battle, and make them put us on the foul line, which is very possible because we do a nice job crashing the offensive boards. I see the Tigers winning another close one 79-78.....#BootUp

Good stuff Rolling Stoned. I'll be honest, I haven't seen any of Florida's away games. I did see the AUburn game Saturday but with a 9month old my watching ability outside of LSU has been unfortunately limited this year. Just looking at their roster and what I saw this past weekend I'm nervous.

To try and downplay what their offense has done in SEC play seems questionable. Efficiency wise, Florida's offense has been better than LSU's in SEC play. I am very hopeful LSU wins this one. Put a little distance between us and the pack would be amazing.

Yeah- Look I like Florida alot. I just think you need to show me something before I bet on you! And Florida on the road has not been very good under White.

I can say the reverse of that is that LSU simply doesn't BLOW out anyone but we are only laying -2.5.

The team i am MOST concerned about right now is Alabama Lewis and Petty can really GO!!

Long term i think LSU is gonna finish 3rd in the SEC around 13-5 I think UK ends up winning the regular season and either Florida or Bama grabs 2nd place

I just think depth issues will eventually creep in on this team!!

This thread is making me more confident and I don't like that.

Like most have said its probably, regardless of what happens during the game, gonna be a 1 possession game with two minutes left

We can't afford to have one of our usual scoring droughts if we are going to win this one.

LSU Patrick-

I'm almost certain that LSU WILL have a lapse or two in this game...It is just in their DNA as a team. I truly believe it is the turnovers that spin this team into the ground.

Mays and Smart are simply our catalysts for everything we do and they have these moments of idiotic plays. Good news is if they can ever figure it out like Neo in the Matrix, we could do some real damage in March as they are Really good players, no matter what this board thinks of them!

lol How many on here prob do NOT get that NEO reference??

Those lapse(s) that happen EVERY game are mind boggling.
"Hey guys, lets take the next 3-4 minutes off so they can catch up." Drives me bonkers.
LSU is athletic enough to beat just about anyone if they played fundamentally sound ball and limit stupid mistakes/turnovers.

I think Marlon is coming into form and no longer tentative re his leg injury.
BUT I hope he stops stepping out of bounds when he’s shooting from the sidelines.
It’s driving me nuts. Lose possession and perhaps gives up a good scoring chance.
Did that SO many times in LA, and is still doing it. Maybe because there’s less space between 3 point and the sideline now. Throwing him off?

BRIT This has driven me insane! It happened like 4 times in that USC game. Especially drove me insane because he doesn't shoot that three all that often. Just stand on the line if you have to but dont stand out of bounds!
