A realistic take, not sure that's acceptable around these parts

Straight up assessment after watching both teams play, considering the returning players, and injuries...
Texas- Lost tons of starters and key players and the majority of their defensive production.
LSU- Returns vast majority of starters and majority of production on both sides of the ball. Plus lots of Seniors and Jr.s. that have played in big games. Major Advantage LSU
Week one games- LSU- Offense played extremely well, highly efficient, run game mediocre but RB’s were utilized so much in passing game that it was negated, defense made every tackle and play great disciplined assignment football. Passing D was not tested.
Texas-Offense moved the ball at will with screen game and running the ball, surprisingly allowed Tech to pressure QB more than I expected, QB made some errant throws and was lucky one wasn’t picked. Defense missed several tackles, especially DB’s, they struggled with picking up RB’s out of the backfield on passes, and never really pressured the QB, they did shut down the run. Advantage LSU
LSU is completely healthy and very deep. Texas has one true RB. Major Advantage LSU
LSU should win this game by double digits and I believe they will.
But, that’s why you play the game, to see who plays the best game that day.

2 DL that could have went pro but came back
one would have been a 4th-5th rounder (at best)
the other wouldn't have been drafted, and probably won't be after this year
the rest i agree on

Games like this pull out the unreasonable...not usually like this

unless you post pics of your S/O.
We do realize in the case of Texas fans, the photographer is likely a veterinarian.
Hold your calls, sports fans; we have a winner in the "Insult of the Day" sweepstakes!

On a side note...watching the tech game now. They missed tackle after tackle and are constantly out if position.
Texas DLINE looks great so far

Didn't ya'll just struggle to beat UCF with their backup QB?
fricking clueless. Your ignorance is appalling.

I don’t know that anyone has said “easily”, but what makes you think UT will win?
Posted on 9/6/19 at 12:22 am to Horns95
I’m trying to not be overconfident. This will be a donnybrook.

I don't think Texas beating UGA means a thing in this game, I think that's a ridiculous narrative as well. Maybe increased the confidence of the team, but that's all.
You seem to be an exception among Texas fans in this regard.

Not really. No more than UT “struggled” to beat UGA. Both teams lead for most of the game and controlled it. Both opponents stayed within striking distance. Just check the stats.
LSU’s problems were the same as all of last year- not cashing in in the red zone. Lots of settling for FGs instead of scoring TDs. Lack of a pass rush. And you won’t find more than two guys that closed that game in the secondary still on the team, much less playing. Injuries and a couple of targeting suspensions had LSU playing WRs and career benchwarmers as CBs in the 4th quarter.
Those problems all seem to have been addressed. The offense went 5-5 in the red zone and looked more organized and efficient than we’ve seen in a while last Sat. LSU Unser to struggle with that, regardless of the opponent. It certainly wasn’t the case vs GA Southern. The secondary is back and as talented as we’ve ever had. Having not 1, but now 3 legit NTs and Chaisson back have instantly upgraded the pash rush.
I wouldn’t put any more stock in the UCF bowl performance than UT’s vs UGA when it comes to this matchup.

It's just how it goes, Texas plays awful against awful teams and plays incredible against incredible teams. Herman did that at UH, lost to Navy and Uconn and beat FSU and OU.. at HOUSTON.
He lost to Memphis when it really counted that year and they lost their division. I rather enjoyed that.

They win a lot of games like that just slowly wearing down a defense and keeping the other teams offense off the field.
This is the deepest LSU’s defense has been in over 10 years. Quality depth. They aren’t going to wear down. If you are banking on that, then just expect to lose.

I am not confident because Sam E is a great QB with a will to win and we are playing you in your house! That right there gives me pause, winning against a top 10 team on the road is always going to be a tough job.
But I still think we will win, and I think it comes down to experience! We bring back 16 starters “8 on each side” and you guys bring back 8. And no matter what the coach from the team that only has 8 starters says, experience matters especially in games like this!
I believe at the end of the day, the experience of LSU will lead to less physical and mental mistakes and that is the difference!
It is going to be a great game, and I for one appreciate you popping over here on our board to spice things up!
Also good luck! Not on Saturday, for the rest of the season!

Haha it's fun! I'll stick around even after the game but obviously not near this active. Now when y'all prepare to destroy the Ags.. we will all be on the same side.

The ones of us who know football and are honest with ourselves know that nothing about this game will be easy.
I expect it to be a 4-quarter war, and while I think LSU has an edge because of our elite defense, Ehlinger is a damn strong competitor and anything can happen.

You need to forget about this game, just chalk it up as an out of conference L. What you really need to concern yourself with is Jalen Hurts & Oklahoma
