Should host very often.
Get to supers pretty much most years
Run to Omaha ever 2-3 years.

I dont know how the floor could be a top 16 regional host when no one does that. The floor is a 3 seed in a regional. That should be the minimum we expect. Thats what i expect. Missing the tourney may happen 1 of every 10 years or so.

The floor should be 16 Sec Wins and a regional host
A coach should be allowed to miss the floor in 1, maybe 2 out of 10 seasons coached. Jay missed the floor this year. So next year needs to be a clear bounce back. I expect it will be

Minimum you need to host a regional over 80% of your seasons as a coach here

Making the postseason needs to happen every season. Were the premier baseball program and FSU for example did it 45 straight years or so. Having said making it in should be a gimme,
I’ll say a regional final should be the floor. That is the final 32 teams standing and has happened 3 times in the last 6 seasons:
2018 Oregon State
2022 Southern Miss
2024 North Carolina
ETA that’s the acceptable floor, what I expect is being a top 16 team every year and either hosting a regional or making it to a Super regional

You know how hard that is to do year in, year out?
Baseball is too close margin of a sport with a loaded SEC to expect a winning conference record every single year but good thing is you don’t even need a winning conference record to get into the tournament now. Especially now that it’s a super top conference every single year. You just can’t be terrible and you’ll get into the NCAA tournament which LSU never should be

This year is a perfect example of what the floor should be. 2/3 seed, still fighting, battling, clawing. Our fans are so unreasonable. Host a regional EVERY year? Lmao. Good God.

I believe sully has hosted 12/16 seasons, so 75% of the time
Arky has had 7 straight hosts
So expecting that every year seems reasonable as long as you are allowing your coach not to meet expectations every now and then

I think you set base expectations or a floor in any job understanding the there will be times even the best won’t meet them. But as long as they are meeting them the majority of the time their job is safe

We dug ourselves such a hole early. This was the craziest year, lol. We found new ways to lose. Proud of the team for rallying and not quitting. The floor for me should be Super Regionals playing for a chance to go to Omaha. CWS at least every other year.

I think Jay is almost in a must make super regional next year to not be in a weird spot. Obviously he wouldn’t be fired but the fanbase would be losing steam with him and admin would be somewhat on alert

If they hadn’t made this run at the end of the season, I would agree. However, playing to win a regional should be the floor and they did achieve that yesterday and that didn’t seem remotely possible two months ago. It doesn’t make up for all the problems, but redemption is a real thing in sports and it matters.
All that said, this just means this year’s team had to scratch and claw to get to the same floor that the 22 team, a group with FAR less overall talent, also reached. That’s not ideal and next year has to be better or Jay will start to hear about it.
