Im legit shocked

This is how it should have lined up since opening day if the opening day start was actually based on preseason performance. It seems like since that opportunity was passed over, it was inevitable that it would at some point affect someone's arm rest schedule to make a rotation change.

IMO the sooner you make the change the better, but the Xavier series seemed to be a good weekend to make the swap. Jay obviously wanted to give Thatcher the first opportunity to throw Fridays but he has not been that guy who gets you deep into that first game consistently.

Nah. It’s not a big deal either way.

This is the right call.

Also, smashing the UNDER... expecting another pitchers duel

I do not mind the decision but also would not have minded if they pitched Jump toady against Texas.

Who knows… maybe Hurd went to Jay and said I’ll do whatever is best for the team. Hes a good kid and will once again be the main factor on how far this team goes, just like last year

Yall are giving up on Hurd it seems

Let's not be dramatic here.

Hurd has struggled in his first 2 starts and also struggled in the intersquads leading up to the season. 1 bad start can be a lfuke, 2 bad starts in a row can be a sign. 3 or more (including intersquads) is a clear indication that things arent clicking for him at the moment. This move makes sense now that we're facing a legit opponent. It doesnt make sense to let Hurd "work thing sout" against the toughest opponent on the schedule to date when we have other starters who have been consistently elite over the same time period. Hurd can continue to work things out on Sat or Sun. It's not over for him at all, he just needs to find some consistency is all. If he doesnt, then we got plenty of other guys who do have the consistency to be a weekend starter and maybe he needs to go back to bullpen work mostly. Is what it is, Hurd is not going to just be given the Friday night role because that was envisioned to start the season. You go by the results and follow suit.

If it weren’t for the matchup he’d probably leave them. Fans put too much emphasis on what day someone starts.

At the end of the day, Holman has thrown on average 82 pitches in his first two outings. 77 last game. It’s like they almost anticipated this. Moving him up a day is a nothing burger.

Ehh.. dont think he's ready to make that leap. Id prefer to continue ramping him up slowly. Maybe a dress rehersal next wknd vs Xavier then have him full-bore when we travel to StarkVegas.
