Coach Dana is already counting heads at Morgantown: No. 16 West Virginia (4-1) opens Big East play Saturday against Connecticut and it will be interesting to see the announced attendance at Mountaineer Field. That's because last week "only" 46,000 showed up on a dreary weather day for a non-conference game with Bowling Green. The attendance drop came right after the place was packed for a game with No. 1 LSU and Mountaineer fans started crowing about what a good fit they would be in the SEC. Why not us? They asked.

Holgorsen, who is nothing if not blunt, gave them an answer: You want to be big-time? Well, 16,000 empty seats ain't big-time. "LSU played well in front of 62,000 of our people and then turned around and went home and played a (1-3) Kentucky team at noon and had 95,000 fans," Holgorsen said. "You want to talk about an elite program, that's one. I don't know about this place."
