There are many reasons why. LSU out hit Tenn in both games. Vandy out hit LSU in only one game. Arkansas out hit LSU in only one game. 9 hits resulted in 1 run yesterday, terrible run production. 9 hits against Tenn ace on Friday is good, just not enough runs.

We waste way too many at bats. If we just hit a ground ball to second instead of swinging and missing our run production would go up substantially.

Idk man, we only have 4 guys hitting .300 and we strike out a metric ton.

We're built for the long ball, without it we cant do much.

Slow guys on bases, swinging for the fences, struggling to hit breaking balls.

Where are we sitting in the sec as far as strikeouts go? I haven’t dug into the stats but the eye test tells me we are one of the more unclutch hitting teams I can remember at lsu.

This

We hit homers and a lot of fly balls. Plus we K a lot. We don’t seem to have a good two strike approach. Few guys seem to just try and make contact with two strikes.

Too many wasted at bats and we choke when the hits are needed in the SEC. Timely hitting is an art, and we not have one guy in Tanks that can consistently put together advanced at bats.

I just want to win a game today. Post season be damned now. No one enjoys this including the team. Let’s just win a game today.

I agree with the OP, also:

After the 1st Tenn Game, this baseball team has struck out 290 times this year. That’s 25% of the time. And that’s overall for every game, if you just took SEC games, that percentage gets way higher.

It gets worse. LSU pitchers have walked 151 batters this season. That is crazy terrible.

I see progression in certain players, both pitchers and hitters.

But then, there is also strong regression in some players as well. Even just within this season.

It’s not a coaching issue. It’s a mindset and execution problem. Baseball like this is like a whirlpool. It pulls you down and holds you there until finally somebody steps up and pulls everyone out. That either will happen this season or it won’t. That’s ultimately up to the guys in the locker room. Until then, we are stuck in the whirlpool.

I agree timely hitting is the issue. It seems we always get 2 hits a row with 2 outs. We got most of the breaks last year and we aren’t getting the breaks this year. That’s baseball

This team hasn't hit a single home run this weekend, they lead the SEC in GIDP, and are last in steals.

Slow guys on bases,

We play like this but it's not really true outside of Jones, Travinski, and White.

Kling, Bingham, Larson, Braswell, Milam, and Brown are guys who should be hitting for average and making things happen on the base paths but they don't hit enough for that to happen and when they do we don't even try to run. It's like Jay still thinks we have last season's roster

A lead off hitter can’t be a guy with a 40% chance of a strikeout

You can't take two strikes then swing at a bad pitch.
