Obviously you CAN legislate tackling techniques that are unnecessary and increase dramatically the chance of serious injury. Helmet to helmet contact was the first to go...then horse collars...then body slams...and now hip tackles in the NFL. And yes, you can blast an opponent including QBs BTW. I see it every game. But you can't use WWE wrestling type moves like body slamming (can't do that on any runner) nor come down with the full weight of your body (sorry, I bet you like those body smashes off the top ropes in wrestling).

BTW, I totally disagree that "nobody wants anyone to get hurt." The USC tackler who took out Dante Moore for the season when he cheap shotted a SLIDING QB and led with his elbow BTW. Guess the original Rollerball movie is a favorite of yours, huh? UNNECESSARY VIOLENCE that has nothing to do with the game.

There’s already too much legislation on how defenders can play defense.

Disagree, hip drop tackles have caused season ending injuries and almost ended multiple NFL player's careers. Joe Mixon is a recent example of that. I think its worse than a chop block.

My buddy commented on it while we were watching the game. Multiple on Green, at least one on Jones, I think one on Grace, and probably a couple of other WRs.
