Absolutely positively no knock on Hilliard but with his blowout curveball he would be a devastating middle relief guy for 3 innings when needed. IMO

I think that's what's going to end up happening with him.

I wouldn't be all that shocked to see Hillard in relief next season.

We obviously have to wait to see what is done with Hess and how Walker, Labas and Stortz look when they return to full strength. Then add in a few freshman, who can no doubt compete for a weekend starting spot, and you have yourself one insanely deep arse rotation.

Either way, it is going to be a great problem to have.

I would put him in the 8th to set up Hess or Peterson in the 9th.

He'd be a nice setup man. Really nice. But, I'd also love seeing him continue to improve and be a very solid Sunday starter.

I think this ultimately will be where he goes. The idea of really only having to get 6-7 out of starters next year to turn it over to his curve/control and then switch it over to Peterson (or Hess) makes me giddy.

The makeup going into next year is so much more exciting than it was this year.

I'm telling ya Marceaux will start either Saturday or Sunday. He's got 4 pitches he can throw for strikes at any time. He's the Enlow we lost last year to the Twins maybe better.

He is a solid relief pitcher. Fell into a starter role just as Hess did cause they were the best available options at the time. Hopefully if guys are healthy next year and some others step up they can both transition back to the pen and would be exceptional relief pitchers

LSU goes from an entirely new starting rotation to one of the strongest Pitching Staffs in the country next season. I love it

I like Hilliard in long middle relief. In a perfect world...pretty stacked if we can hold on to Hess & Jaden Hill.

Starters
Walker
Marceaux
Labas
Storz

Middle Relief
Hilliard - can start if needed.
Jaden Hill - can start if needed.
Cole Henry - can start if needed.
Gilbert - can start if needed.
Fontenot
Beck
Kodros - Lefty specialist.

Closer(s)
Hess
Todd Peterson

This would make postseason 2019 a lot of fun.

Yeah, I'd like to see Hilliard as the Sunday guy or tremendous reliever.

I would like to see Walker and Marceaux really emerge.

We would really have some tremendous bullpen depth if we can have all these arms in relief.

Almost like this year was some type of, dare I say it, rebuilding year.

This pitching rotation should be awesome in tournament play. Having a deep and talented rotation is how you win championships. If our bats can continue to improve, which they should, this team has the make up to go as far as anyone. Next Year U! Seriously though, how can you not be excited about next year?

Hilliard is a starter. He is an inning eater and proved that this year. Put him in between two starters with heat and he will be even more effective.”

Oh look, we're annointing high schoolers who have never thrown at this level again. I'm not even saying none of them will develop, but Hilliard is a guy we KNOW can do it at this level. Moving him to a new role when starters are at a premium is silly.
