If Canada were staying, many of the rant would be blasting O for hiring a guy who finished #54 on offense.

So, Derek, Canada sucks, and he’s a drunk that openly bad mouths the other LSU coaches in public, huh?

Please Point out
1) The QB that can throw the ball (not underthrow, but lead the receiver
2) The WR who can make the catch (think the Miss State game and the drops, and the rest of the year all the drops and lack of consistency
3) Think of the Offensive line the injuries
4) Think of the FALSE STARTS in the first half of the season/the mental mistakes
5) Think of the Alabama loss... we all hate Bama, but this was the first we actually felt OK with the loss because we moved the ball on bama and they couldn't stop us.... yes only 10pts, but see #2 above, all i can remember is a defensive back all over Chark and Etling underthrowing a TD Ball, at the same time Chark should've jumped INTO HIM(DB) and it would've been an EASY Pass Interference call

See where i'm going....
I WOULD LOVE to see this offense for year #2 with EXPERIENCED LINEMAN BLOCKING

The second half of the year we only lost to Bama, and our offense looked better against them than it has in a few years.

This is true but the o haters were not admitting this until Canada wasn’t coming back. It’s clear that they just have to find something to hate. A week ago it was O only won bc the sec sucked...now it’s omg Canada is gone and look how great his offense was doing with no mention of the sec sucking. So now Canada is a great offensive mind bc his offenses looked so good against all these teams firing coaches but O still only benefitted from a weak schedule

Jet sweep= 3-4 different plays can be run with this one act.. do you think the tight end or wr's have anything to do with it's success ? Sure they do by blocking !
Bubble/3 wr bunch play pass, I see all teams run it an very few have success. I'm not buying your thin opinion 54th is the entire offense and learning curve to boot. Check back in with ya after bowl game

From the info coming out over the season, it seems Canada wanted to get Brennan snaps and make him the guy. He knew what kind of personnel would make his offense run most effectively. O wanted to keep Etling as the qb. As the season progressed it became obvious O got his way (hey, he’s the head coach) as MBs appearances all but disappeared. I’d go easy on blaming final stats on an OC who was overruled in his main personnel decisions. We could say, well we’ll see next season when MB gets the reins under Canada but.....well.....

It was his first year installing a complex offense
excuse. Same excuse used with Cam's allegedly complex offense.

College offenses can be turned around very quickly. Hell, Kiffin was a first year OC at Bama and made the playoffs with Blake Freaking Sims at QB. Gus made the championship game in his first year with Nick Marshall at QB.

New QB/new offense are just excuses.

Those in this thread who do not acknowledge the difficulty/ impossibility o installing a totally new offense with players not recruited for it within a few months, are not qualified to comment here. The jury is still out on Canada. He has been here for about eleven months and his efforts were being undercut by Orgeron by no later than September.
He had two very good RBs, but little else to work with except Chark and a mess son OL.
Seems to me he did extremely well under these circumstances, particularly when having to fight his own HC to implement his offense.

I think that’s what the whole dispute is about. O overruled Canada on certain aspects of his offense as well, it seems, on the qb direction. Fine, but don’t hang the final results on your OC.

I think he did an excellent job, With a very weak QB, offensive line with a ton of injuries, and implementing a new offense.

It would seem as though nobody is certain of the dynamics between O and Canada (did Les call plays, or was it Cam?...remember that discussion?). Is O screwing things up by interfering, or did he save the day after the Troy game by stepping in. I don’t have inside info, and honestly, most of this thread sounds like speculation. Some are pro O, some are pro Canada, some are just simply negaO’s. I say our offense, while markedly different, was pretty meh. Maybe I expected too much. Honestly, I don’t think Canada deserves to be fired based performance, but he should have been put on notice concerning expectations in year #2. If he is a drunken arse that shits on the rest of the staff, then that could be a deal breaker. This team, in the foreseeable future imo , is only going to be as successful as the Aranda led defense determines. If Im O, I’m 1000% sticking with Aranda over Canada.

And you all keep defending Canada. Your expectations are very low. Looks like the jet sweeps and motion offense really tore it up this year. 53 teams did more paying much less.

As long as we agree O is as much to blame if not more.

According to y’all it was injuries and missing Olinemen and missing dlinemen ie couldn’t get off the field to give the offense something and it was bad field goal kicking and bad special teams that set up the offense in the hole and it was O that interferes, by his own admission, in the Troy game and and and.
Now all of a sudden it is on Canada.

Here is what Canada’s offense DID:
1. Danny Freaking Etling
- He’s one of just five to throw for 2,000 yards in consecutive seasons,
- one of 10 to crack 4,000 career yards and is second
- set the highest mark ever for an LSU QB In Int ratio and Number 2 all time in the conference.
- Number 12 in effenciency in the Nation.
- Number 5 in yards per completion in the Nation.
2. The offense turned the ball over only 8 times this entire season - tied for the best in the conference with Bama. Ironically, 4 of those was against Troy.
3. Thy averaged 28 puts a game.
4 Put up yards against Bama despite the loss and won all those games in the last 3/4 of the season when it was clear MC was calling the games.

It takes time to install this offense and we still didn’t see all of it.
