Tonight the rain forecast has bumped up on Saturday PM rain forecast to 50% chance while Sunday is only 20% (Monday is only 10% but obviously not a factor in this particular discussion about Skenes).

Does Jay possibly hold Skenes back to Sunday to not risk a big delay in Game 1 that would ultimately cost LSU another long Skenes outing like he had last Friday? 2-5 pm in the afternoon is sort of prime daytime Thunderstorm hours due to daytime heating etc.

After last weekend, would anyone be shocked? Especially because this choice seems WAY less risky in the sense that you have to win 2 out of only 3 games however you get there so the opportunity cost holding Skenes back till Sunday seems much less weighty than it potentially could have been last week.

It would make sense. It would give skenes an extra day of rest after going for 9 his last outing and floyd would be well rested to go Saturday since he threw well under his limit. But I'm not going to pretend to be any sort of pitching expert so I'm going to trust whoever Jay decides to roll out there

I wouldn’t be surprised if Jay holds Skenes based off weather

No doubt it will play into his decision

It’s been running 60-70%. South Louisiana summertime weather is pretty volatile and ever changing. We won’t know until Saturday. And even that morning, things could change again. Skenes goes game 1 Saturday unless things really take a late downturn

Our game is at 2pm. The earlier game actually gives them a little leeway in case there are weather issues. I’m sure if there is a big storm coming at 230 they will delay the start.

The discussion of a weather forecast in South Louisiana that is more than 48 hours ahead is just ridiculous, yet y'all keep getting sucked into the trap of trying to plan for it.

I’m showing Saturday as the only day with no chance of rain.
Sunday 10%
Monday 40%

Weather isn’t very predictable until 48 hours out so we should know better by this evening.

Wait! All the “experts” on here last week were saying Jay isn’t a good enough coach to factor weather into his decisions. Now you’re telling me he may move Skenes’ start based on weather.

It’s all so confusing. Lol.

Does anyone know if LSU is in control of delaying the game in case of bad weather until first pitch, and then the umpires take over?

Such as how MLB does it?

Jay going to take that into account for sure but I do think he still goes with Skenes on Saturday.

It’s all on the NCAA. LSU has no control over anything that happens.

We should probably wait until Saturday morning to really start figuring it out. Remember Monday morning people were saying there was no way LSU would have been playing at 1 pm

Did you see/read Johnson’s post-regional interview? He said the weather was the main factor in choosing when to pitch Skenes. He pitched against Tulane bc it was the lowest chance of rain. If he follows the same logic, then Skenes will pitch on Sunday.

They're not going to start the game at 2:00 if there is a threat of rain coming soon. They were all ready to re-start the Tulane-Sam Houston game Saturday evening and even had a restart time. But about 10 minutes before the pulled the teams back in because there was a cell they thought was heading that way.
