Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn DESTROY the bullshite myth that the NFL ball is harder to grip (easier, in fact).

Flynn:
quote:

If his hand can grip a college ball, he can EASILY grip an NFL ball. The NFL ball is like... if God could come down and make a football, it would be the NFL football. The college football is like poo poo compared to the NFL football... the ones you play with on Sunday are unbelievable!

Hester:
quote:

It is SO much easier to grip. It has a natural tack to it.

The ball is almost exactly the same size (It is the exact same size on the largest allowed circumference - and exactly the same weight), and the quality of the leather grain is off-the-charts better in the NFL ball.

Pretty sure Hester and Flynn have more experience with the difference than the Colin Cowherd types.

I guess the NCAA is too poor for good footballs.

I don't think it is so much that they have a "natural tack" to it as much as it is the QB's make sure the ball are broken in to their liking.

When I was in HS we would get 3-4 brand new balls each week that were designated as "game balls" and I HATED them. They were always over inflated and slick. The easiest balls to throw were the ones that were 2-3 years old and been used a ton in practice.

As long as the ball is "sticky" Joe will be just fine. The NFL has guys on staff who will spend days just throwing new balls back and forth to break them in.

Probably a very limited supply of the highest quality grains that the NFL specifies.

Pretty sure Flynn and Hester know WTF they are talking about. It is a FAR superior ball.

And the QBs do get to pick their favorites. So it is the best of the best on Sundays

Flynn makes the point that the so-called "NFL ball" available to the public in stores is NOTHING like the ball they use in the NFL.

Put this on the OT I bet you will get some real advice on this subject. I know I didn't have any problems spinning the NFL ball when I was in the league well except when I blew out my knee on that one fumble.

what? Nobody is on an NFL franchise’s payroll to throw new balls back and forth. They’re tacky because they’re extremely high quality material that’s been treated properly, unlike your high school balls

I would assume this is one of many tasks an equipment manager does.

Have to assume NFL teams have those.

Not sure if you're getting downvoted to oblivion because of who you are, or what it was you said, but I joined the dog pile.

I wonder if both were in the league long enough to get a pension and how much.

NFL kickers used to do that until the league banned them from it. They had a special ball just for FG’s.
