Not necessary. I normally don't like this, but lets think about next week in the calculus. I go Newman first and then if they get within 4, I go Hess.

I like that as well. I have a feeling Newman will be needed at some point in the championship series. Coming in to this game and shutting the door would be big for his confidence. I'd have a very short leash though.

100 pitches or 120 doesn't make a difference as far as him coming back.

Gilbert is done as a starter in the CWS at this point. What he does the rest of the way won't stop him from throwing an inning or two in relief.

Just talking about this with friends. He could still come out of the pen in game 2 or 3, just like Poche is "sorta" available today.
