Here is all I need to know about giving BK and the team time...

In 2002, LSU lost to Auburn 34-17, then lost the next week to UAB for HOMECOMING 13-10, and two weeks later got blown out by Florida 41-9! In 2001, Florida blew LSU out again 44-15!
In his third year, he was 8-5 (Yes, that's right..8-5!) with blow out losses to Virginia Tech 26-8, Auburn 31-7, Bama 31-ZIP, and lost to Texas in the Cotton Bowl 35-20!
And for those of us really old enough to remember that, those losses were not pretty!
Based on the above, it took the almighty Saban 4 years to reach the top in 2003 with a good base of talent left to him by Dinardo! He came to LSU in much better shape than when BK took over.
So, I ask...what has changed that we ask BK to do this in his first year by inheriting 39 scholarship players ten months ago?
Was yesterday disappointing? No doubt! But, just last week so many of the same posters now posting doom and gloom on the rant, were telling us how bright the future was for LSU football based on comeback wins over Auburn and MooState. Now, its all doom and gloom...reminds me of the stock market! Up one day, down the next...its the dividend over years that counts, however!
All I am saying is give him time! He inherited a dumpster fire from O and a depleted roster! He needs the same patience allowed for others like Saban who took over LSU under much better circumstances. Yet, Saban still took three years!
I am disappointed by yesterday's game, but this is a process and a culture change, and it does take time! BK was the right choice! BK is the right choice! And I truly believe time will prove that statement correct!

You need good players to win big games and LSU currently does not have them on the field.

This an entirely too reasonable post

2001 season - LSU also went on to win SEC championship and the Sugar Bowl.

You should try getting your years correct. It’s not that hard to look up a schedule.

Blah
Blah
Blah
Penalties
Turnovers
Bad plays
Are all coach-able.
Why do we have penalties, turnovers and bad plays so many times?
Answer - poor coaching.

Ed ruined LSU before he was canned. It will take a minimum 2 recruiting cycles to see a real difference.

Ed O was fired in October of last year by an incompetent AD. The decision to let Ed O go mid season was the biggest blunder for football since hiring Curley. The state of of the program is on 2 people - Scott W and BK. They will get the credit and the blame for the foreseeable future. To whom much is given, much is expected.

Your post is entirely too logical. I agree, a program can't be rebuilt overnight. Unfortunately, a lot of us drank too much "kool aid" w/ the two come from behind victories
A number of things have changed, and mostly not for the good.
BIG factors
-Culture in general has changed to expect immediate gratification in every aspect of life, including college athletics. Everyone expects to win, and win BIG, immediately. The fact that some coaches have done so (Miles won the national championnship in year 3; Orgeron won it in only his third full year) just adds fuel to the fire. The fact that our roster was decimated when CBK comes in makes no difference to many.
-In addition, I think social media is also a factor. Social media can lead to a group developing a mob like mentality where a certain narrative takes over, changing what a person initially thought.
Smaller factor
-The transfer portal is also a contributing factor. A number of teams have picked up high profile players from the xfer portal and went on to have a really good season. Prior too that xfer portal player, there were signifiant upgrades being done in the roster and/or coaching staff. These upgrades are usually unseen by many fans. These are the fans who will remember the only the high profile xfer portal player and credit the good season to him, having not noticed the other upgrades that were carried out. These fans won't understand that "If the University of ______ can get that player from the xfer portal and have a really good season, why can't my university do it?"

Kelly’s problems are his selections:
1) OC selection
2) QB selection
We won’t even be competitive in the SEC until these selections are corrected.

We forget the pitchforks were starting to come out in year 3 under Saban.

So the muffed kick off was because of the coaches? The interception was on the coaches? Your fricking dumb don’t respond again!
Posted on 10/9/22 at 3:29 pm to Awlunz Tiger
Very true. We do have free agency in CFB so it's more reasonable to expect that you could accelerate that timeline but point taken.

So how many good qb options did he have on The roster that were good?

Social Media has changed everything everywhere.

If you really want an answer.
Super Seniors due to Covid, NIL money, and no sit transfers.
Those allow for coaches to almost build a team from scratch with guys that fit their systems. This year is his buy in year. A year to prove himself and his system to guys. This offseason is crucial for him to find NIL partners to get the guys you need on the roster. If he isn’t getting the jimmy’s and joes by next year LSU can’t afford to fall to far behind in the SEC. He will not get 4 or 5 years to build anymore.

It's a microwave world, Man. People want it done right this second, with no cold spots or burnt edges. Those same people would never have the patience for anything that takes some time and patience for a much better result.
