We're watching a true legend being created. This one is on par with Bo, or Herschel, or even Campbell.

Its very hard to group him in with these legends.. AT THIS POINT.....

Our O-line is blocking so well he gets to that second level where he has no equal. There isn't a safety strong enough to bring him down.

Yep. That coupled with his style of bringing the pain to tacklers rather than letting smaller guys shoestring him makes him a beast.

I hope it keeps up.

Didn't Collins become a legend based on 2 games against AU and Miss St? And that was pretty much it.

What were his numbers in those 2 games compared to the last 2 games for LF (again vs State and AU)?

Collins sample size was too small to ever be considered one of the greats.

He played 4 games. Had only 3 TDs and 596 yards.

LF7 is way better statitically at this point. He had 232 yards against Auburn but did play 4 qts too.

That's kind of what I remember.
Seems like his legend has been way overblown.

Among his unique set of skills...LOL....is his acceleration through the hole. I mean he only needs a couple of feet and boom, he's at the 3rd level of the defense. LBs are like where'd he go.....and the DL is like where'd who go?

There have really only been a small handful of performances like that in Tiger Stadium that I've seen where a player so thoroughly dominates that they look like a man among boys.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few games from Jeremy Hill are the only things I can think of that come close.

Cecil Collins did in a few games as well

Ed O said it was the best performance by a CFB player that he has seen in 30 years of coaching

Tip #1 to opposing DB's, I wouldnt say anything that may make that beast angry.

This +100000000. Even if u feel like that your team can stop him, why open your damn mouth and say it. It's be like a bull rider purposely pissing off the bull and getting it all amped up prior to trying to ride it for 8 sec.

I wouldn't go that far. While only playing four games, Cecil averaged 8.3 yards/carry. Who knows what he would have continued to do.

And Collins was also competing against Kevin Faulk, Rondell Mealey, and Kendall Cleveland.

3 TDS is paltry. None versus MSU and just 1 against lowley Akron.

LF has 6 TDs in 2 games the same yards per carry and avg close to 50 more yards per game than Cecil. Technically CC really only played 3 games though so 4 us a little unfair. So I will put them even there.

Extrapolated LF would have 772 in 4 games with 12 TDs if he holds the same avg. Collins amassed his yards against MSU AU Akron and Vandy.

185 vs Akron 1td
233 vs AU 2 TDs
172 vs MSU

Yes Faulk and RM were teammates but CC got the horses share just like LF who shares carries as well.

I don't even think Cleveland had a carry in the same game in CCs brief career

Collins? Based on 4 games?
Btw LF has already (in 2 games) doubled the TDs Collins got in 4 games and has 2/3 the yards.

ETA: well frick. Shoulda known somebody would have already jumped on it.

Faulk didn't play in MS or AU and only had 6/52 in AK game. Cleveland had 0/0 in all 3-4 games.

It's a little disingenuous to count Cecil with 4 games. He broke his leg on the 3rd carry against Vandy.

Everyone just needs to get over Collins. Woulda, coulda, shoulda....we'll never know what Collins could have been, but with Fornette, we'll have our greatest hope since Billy Cannon.
