From Mike & Mike:

quote:

On the LSU RB's big game vs. Auburn, Kirk Herbstreit told Mike & Mike: "He looked like a raging bull when he ran. He almost looked like a guy playing little league football who was bigger and stronger and badder than everyone else."

I was thinking the same thing Saturday on the little league part.

Our O-line is blocking so well he gets to that second level where he has no equal. There isn't a safety strong enough to bring him down.

I mean, if you're a DC you might as well just put a corner and 3 linebackers back there. What else can you do?

Tip #1 to opposing DB's, I wouldnt say anything that may make that beast angry.

Fournette had a chip on his shoulder after the Auburn quote and was possessed from the word geaux.

He wasnt just looking to score, he was looking at going right at the DB's to give them a taste of the Fournette beatdown.
They quickly began the the "ole" and the meetings on the sidelines with Muschamp losing his mind are not forgotten easily.

The craziest thing about Fournette's day was that it was actually more impressive watching it live in the stadium than it was re-watching it at home on TV. So those members of the press who are lauding the performance who weren't there are only getting a taste of what that was like. It was so powerful and the crowd reaction to both the hits and the IMPENDING hits you'd see coming as he'd take a corner or eye up a DB was a huge part people watching on TV missed out on.

There have really only been a small handful of performances like that in Tiger Stadium that I've seen where a player so thoroughly dominates that they look like a man among boys.

I'll admit it...I was one who was down on Fournette's Heisman chances. Never because the guy isn't crazy talented, but because even if he put up huge numbers he'd be splitting time with other quality backs and he simply wouldn't get enough touches to really dominate. Not enough to make those special plays that seem to define a season for a Heisman winner.

Wow...was I wrong.

I'm pretty sure he gave the game ball to the FB too. Great that he shows so much appreciation and recognition for the guys who do the dirty work for him.

I thought he had some issues early last year. Lack of patience and he wasn't seeing things develop. I still think that was the case, but it's not anymore.

We're watching a true legend being created. This one is on par with Bo, or Herschel, or even Campbell.

He's the master prototype for a running back. Speed, vision, agility, size, hands, power.

A few games from Jeremy Hill are the only things I can think of that come close.

Agree 100%.

Agree again. All of those guys were incredible, but they were different. Fournette is the same way... There are similarities netween he and they, but the truth is he's different. But like you say...

This. The way they are jumbled together in all those legendary backs are different, but they possess the same attributes. That's the reason you have commentators grasping at straws trying to come up with a comparison. There really isn't one exactly, though he shares those all important traits as the greats.

One day, assuming he stays healthy and productive, commentators may say, "This kid reminds me of Fournette, or Walker, or Bo..."

I hate the comparisons to Cecil Collins.

CC had a million dollar body with a 10 cent brain.

LF has a million dollar body with a 10 million dollar brain.

LF is a leader, is focused on getting better and a hard worker. CC was a super talented athlete that rode his talent.

LF is more like Michael Jordan. Relentlessly focused on beating you

Fournette is great, but Collins is still the best i've ever seen at LSU... but the gap is pretty razor thin at this point, and i see Fournette topping Collins, barring injury...

He has an elite combination of size, speed and agility coupled with an O line that is coming together. Damn this is fun to watch.

I believe Mark Ingram split time with quality backs.

Yep, he had a few Dylan Moses moments in that game.
