Sorry, but you’re not going to convince me LSU is hurting for money, to much big money down there

The Football operations net gain was $56 million in 2019. I think they will be okay.

They are not $80 million in the hole. Their revenue is 80 million less. That doesn’t meant they won’t make money. Revenue is down but so is their variable costs

LSU's athletic department says it expects to lose $80 million in revenue due to the impact of COVID-19 and is laying off employees and reducing salaries of others.

While you are correct in saying that it’s $80 million in lost revenue, you’re downplaying the fixed costs of a major athletics operation. Sure, LSU isn’t paying as much money on game marshals and is buying much less Bud Light, but that won’t offset the enormous fixed costs.

Economics iz hard

Evidently it is for you. Revenue and expenses is accounting, not economics.

Yes I know how TAF works. Long time member and in the top quarter of loyalty/priory points for what it’s worth. But that’s irrelevant. This has been discussed ad nauseam on this board. TAF can’t justify that kind of spending when the institution it supports is in that kind of mess. Optics for one, common sense for other. Also TAF revenue is down with projected expenses upwards of $150 million this year. The financials are sobering when you look at them, not to mention uncertain exposure with the current Title IX investigation. It’s not the right moment to go paying a bunch of buyouts as bad as we want them. Furthermore, the biggest boosters are not just made of money either. Some of them have assets tied up right now bc of Covid-induced economic struggles. It’s amazing how quick many on this board are to spend other people’s money
