The limits to what LSU fans will argue over- with little or no effort- has no ceiling!

fans. The guys & gals who foot the bill?? Buy the tickets and the merchandise???

It would kind of be nice to see the players give them their full attention

What the hell are you talking about?

You shouldn't feel so entitled.

These are 18-23 year old guys who I hope never look at this situation the way you do.

Sure we should expect them to give their all in games and in practice, but it is not a job for them.

The coaches are getting paid so, yes, they should feel obligated to pay attention to you at a public function.

The players should not be expected to ever think about you buying season tickets and paying TAF dues.

Let Joe Alleva and Les be the ones to worry about your feelings being hurt.

As to whether or not Miles disciplines his players, I really can't answer that. Now and then I read that Ford, or substitute your favorite name, is in the doghouse or can't learn plays or some other such rumor. Then I read Miles has no balls. Which is it? When Garrett had his scholarship pulled, some thought that was unfair. Personally, I think that takes more "balls" than telling a fifth string cornerback to put his iPod away. Although I would like to see the kids walking into the stadium reading their playbook while on a conference call with Crowton about the twenty-five scripted plays. That would really show the world that we are dedicated.

Having been a boss, a manager, and a superintendent for more years than I can count, I know that disicplining people in any organization is a case by case problem. Supposedly he "taps" players on the head after a personal foul. That may be enough for that kid, but it wasn't for Perrilloux. Correct me if I am wrong, but Perrilloux did leave the team dishonorably. Should Coach Miles have left him on the team because that is what has complicated the QB issue for the last three years?

I am no psychologist or behavioral analyst, but I doubt if any of you are either. I will leave it up to him to decide what to do. And if they start winning, they can run into to the dressing naked and on fire for all I care. To pin your pet peeve about Miles on headphones is amazing.

Stupid thread, and I am stupid for having gotten involved init.

Oh- don't make the mistake of thinking I am.

I still think it's immature behavior.

But this was predictable as hell. Older folks tend to agree more with me.

The younger crowd doesn't. And that's okay, because one day- they probably will.

But for the time being, I can't convince most of you that I'm correct. And you sure as hell won't convince me the other way.

We simply must agree to disagree.

You know- kind of the same way many of you would be willing to tank this entire season in order to get a new coach. Come on. You know who you are. Admit it.

So anyway, where were we? Oh yeah- I was talking about a guy who doesn't care for the headphones bit because he thinks it's immature, undisciplined behavior, and I kind of agree with him....

Carry on.

At certain times your are 100% correct! I don't know when this episode happened or at what point it happened, but yes, these dumbasses should be focusing on the playbook and other things rather than listening to music.

I guarantee they aren't doing that shite in front of Mack Brown, Saban, or Paterno.

Especially when our team COMPLETELY loses focus and discipline during the game.

It's the big picture, and listening to music isn't a bad thing, it's just when everythin is combined as a whole, focus and discipline are lost with these guys under Miles. And we know he doesn't have the balls to discipline anyone. He taps them on the helmet for getting 15 yd personal fouls when we are scrapping to hold a lead late in the game.

He's NOT a leader, get used to it.

thanks for taking this thread and making it about your anti-miles agenda

Ha! I'll have to say I'm with the OP on this one. There's a time and place for headphones, and being out front as the focus of the pep rally doesn't seem to be it. I always think of football players as a civilian version of the excellence and poise shown by the military while on the parade grounds or in general formation. Can you imagine marching out young soldiers in dress uniforms, receiving awards in front of their families, listening to speeches by generals, all the while wearing head phones?

But I'm old, been everywhere, done everything, what do I know about what kids today should do or not do?

The OP is just a crotchety 42 year old man who cannot relate to the youth of today. Anything that they do that's different than what he deems normal is suddenly not constructive.

He's intolerant, and likely would make a really shitty manager, since he doesn't know what it takes to reach people and to motivate them.

it's his way or the highway. Screw changing social trends!!!

Do you have a problem with them using headphones during the walk to the stadium for home games?

Unlikely, as I have realistic expectaions of people.

Especially 18-23 year olds

I am 51 and it doesn't bother me.

College players immulate the pros.
The Saints players wore headphones during their parade. So did the Lakers. I would think that thse guys want to appear to be winners like those professionals.

We should all probably worry more about how parading our prized bulls in front of the "shareholders" looks in the grand scheme of things.

Maybe you could offer me some "management tips", Donald Trump.

What does it take to be an effective manager? A 17,000 post count?

I'm a 50 year old youngster and think his point is stupid...however, change the premise from "headphones at a pep rally" to "players dancing to Neck on the sidelines during the game" and much of the comments in this thread are valid.
