I guarantee they aren't doing that shite in front of Mack Brown, Saban, or Paterno.
Especially when our team COMPLETELY loses focus and discipline during the game.
It's the big picture, and listening to music isn't a bad thing, it's just when everythin is combined as a whole, focus and discipline are lost with these guys under Miles. And we know he doesn't have the balls to discipline anyone. He taps them on the helmet for getting 15 yd personal fouls when we are scrapping to hold a lead late in the game.
He's NOT a leader, get used to it.
Perfect post to represent the idiocy of many of our fans. Congrats for capsulizing it here for us.

I guess that guy with the green tie on the right needs protection from the noise like Brees' son, right?

Ease up Francis, I didn't realize it were a pep rally......FFS OP are you serious????
I saw the part where Les lad them out, thought it was some pergame bs during warmups.....
So everything else I said stands. I think our guys are undisciplined to say the least. Watch that F'ing joke of a jv team we almost lost to. If it's at pep rallies or wherever, there needs to be some priviledges taken away from these guys until a leader steps up that can do it and keep guys heads straight.
We are dumbing down the playbook/offense and not playing stud recruits every fricking year because "they aren't familiar enough with the playbook" type bullshite we here. Whatever he's doing, IT'S WRONG. It ain't working. Start getting them disciplined and in tune to what they need to be focused on. It ain't fricking looking cool with headphones! WE ARENT FOCUSED.

He was at the UNC game "pep rally" last week in Atlanta. Coach Miles led the team out to the roar of fans- and a good portion of the players were wearing headphones.
I know. They are young people. Lots of other schools let their athletes do the same thing.
But people.....I think the guy was right. He's of the opinion that the players gave him the attitude they could give a shite less about being there- and only wanted to listen to their f-ing music.
We are NOT other schools. We are better than that.
For the time being, THIS IS THEIR JOB. They represent LSU- it is their "firm", and the fans are the "shareholders". If an employee went into a business meeting wearing a f-ing set of headphones listening to the latest rap tunes, he'd probably get his arse fired sooner rather than later. It shows a blatant lack of seriousness, dicipline, and respect- just my opinion.
The shareholders deserve better. Just as we would have them wear proper attire, we should have them lay down the MP3 players for 15 minutes while meeting the fans. This is not the NFL.
As someone who actually is a grandfather, I see bigger problems with college football teams other than headphones. As for us being different from other schools, we really aren't. In fact I think that is one of the problems with this board. SOME people on this board believe that we have the greatest players and we should be auotmatically given an invitation to the big game each year. A scholarship limit guarentees that parity rears its ugly head annually. Like it or not we are like everyone else in just every way. It is ludicrous to think that 18 to 22 year men are not very similar throughout this country.
I don't have a problem with them doing this or with Coach Miles banning it. Since we have one hundred plus players, coaches, trainers, etc. going off to "war," I am assuming a case of nerves is imminent. People handle stress in a myriad of ways. I would have a problem with a player sitting on the bench with headphones, reading a book, or texting his girl friend. I didn't see that. I did see them relaxed and laughing on the sidelines while in Atlanta. After the game I began to wonder if they got overconfident early. I think headphones had little to do with that.
To the issue that this is their job, I couldn't agree more. I know NO ONE paid my way through school. No loans, no money from parents, just me working after school and during summers. Now that you have sufficiently dried the tears away, I think you understand that I do beleive the players have a true gift from the largess of the alumni and the state. If they have sense, they take that seriously even if they never play a down for the Tigers.
Of all the issues that the Tigers face this year, I do believe that "headphone-gate" will be a minor problem.

This kind of poor attitude and lack of discipline on Miles part is at the core of our teams problems.

While walking in a line through a pep rally?

You would be completely wrong and don't have a clue. Many of JoPa's boy's were wearing HPs when they entered Citrus Stadium for the Cap one Bowl, I was there.
Same thing for Saban's Tide, I covered the Kick off classic v Clemson two years ago and both teams entered through a 2/300 yard fan gauntlet outside the dome and virtually ALL of them had on headphones.

focus and discipline are lost with these guys under Miles.

You mean that team that actually started just about the same amount of repeat starters as we did?

This is what I want to know. As many people on this damn site make all of these definitive statements, I would like to know...how do all of you KNOW all of this? This totally boggles my mind.
ETA: I hear all these people call Miles' show on Wednesdays and wonder what he thinks. He has to listen to a bunch of idiots ask him questions because they KNOW so much about his football team. Damn we have some idiot fans.

That explains why Anthony Ranaudo sucked so badly in 2009, listening to those headphones in the locker room during warmups...

Christ...
But it's NOT a board meeting with the shareholders - it's a freaking pep rally!

The only thing the 'shareholders' should care about is the product on the field. A pep-rally is nothing more than a Friday work BBQ. An informal gathering to meet and greet. And, so, they were wearing headphones...exactly what would you like for them to do while they're standing there with Miles, or someone else talking?
quote:
Is that asking too much?
Yes, it is. Quit looking for things to complain about.

Are you fricking serious? LSU went out and beat the best opponent of any other team in the SEC, and they should have priviledges taken away?
If you want to try this ludicrous business analogy, how about the return on assets for each football player? Studies have shown that at the biggest of universities, these figures can be upwards of $250,000 per player for 4 years.
I am pretty sure they are doing a fine job for LSU.

It was after reading this quote that I realized nothing I say to you will be of any value. You have already fallen off the edge. Obviously you do not understand that all of the "stud" recruits that are on the bench have "stud" recruits in front of them that have been here longer. Unless you want Miles to come out and tell you that your favorite unproven freshman is not playing because he simply is not good enough, then I suggest you take the playbook excuse.
