This was already said once earlier. And they aren't going to walk down the hill to the stadium hooting and hollering. Any Tiger fan with a brain knows that.

So if they jump around and hoop and holler the next thread will be"The players need to be more serious at pregame"

Miles should issue a directive to the team to appear neither focused, or enthusiastic.

You are a rational poster in this forum. Don't let my remarks deter you.

Now this is something you don't see every day on this forum. I am flattered, and I am beginning to wonder if "rational poster" isn't an oxymoron on this board.

I do feel sort of duped when I think about this original post. Time and energy wasted on a triviality. Sort of like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

I look at the players as teenagers and young men not quite awakened to the ways of the world. For a large part of their life, they recieved praise and adulation for their athletic ability, and the last thing I would do is resent them for it. However, when it all comes down to it, they aren't that different from any other eighteen year old. The only thing that they owe me is the opportunity to perform well in a game and do their best. I know they are out there hoping to get in a great performance. That is not always a given. What they do to get into moment is fine with me unless it's illegal.

I still think though they are getting something for the opportunity to play at a bigtime school. They are getting a free education, and I hope they take advantage of it. At the same time, they have a full time job playing sports at a university. I respect them for it, and I want them to do their best. I am never at odds with the players, and I am rarely at odds with the coaches. Having said that, I do think I can recognize a bonehead call and a bad decision.

It is sort of funny. When I first started reading this forum, I really had a lot less respect for Coach Miles than I do now. I also have a lot less respect for Saban now than I did then. Why you ask? The "nega tigers" and "posi tigers" are so entrenched in their view that it forces me to the center. I am certain that he, Chavis, and especially Crowton, forgot more about football than I ever knew. If I had devoted myself to the sport, I would be knowledgable too, but I never played any organized football. I accept this limited view of mine; however, because somebody played in high school, I think they believe they are the illegimate son of a union formed from Bill Belichik and Bill Parcell. We have some arrogant and stupid people who have access to a computer today. Fortunately, they are overshadowed (mostly) by some with insight and smarts and a sincere love for LSU.

When these posts get to be too much for me and make me start resenting LSU, that will be when I quit reading these things.

I was driving to work and heard this guy on the radio... I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Maybe he was bitter because he finally came to the realization that the players really don't give a shite about him... and why should they? They are 18-22 year old kids - believe it or not, they are in school - this isn't their job. LSU football would be a lot more enjoyable for some people if they stopped acting like the players and coaches owe them shite.

You want a rant? I'll give you a damn rant. I realize you're just trolling, but I'll take the bait.

You seriously need to be banned forever from this place. The Rant is a God forsaken wasteland of filth and putridity because of mammals such as yourself....however, I'd rather argue with a rantard than see this shite put up as a thread. An entire frickING thread on nothing but...wait for it....headphones.

We have issues on offense, our team is relatively young, we have one of the hardest schedules in the country this year, and the best thing you come to bitch about is.....the players wearing headphones? Do you not see how stupid this is? The rantards will bitch about things ingame, postgame, pregame, some things are so damn trivial you wonder if there isn't some postal worker ready to mail anthrax to any or all of LSU's fanbase. But I've never seen an old piece of pathetic refuse such as yourself complain about the players wearing headphones. If someone can point out to any rantard complaining about headphones before, I stand corrected. But I'm quite sure it hasn't been done.

So, you've sunk lower than the lowest on this board.

I wonder....Drew Brees' son, after the Saints won the SB.....did you get pissed off that this child was wearing huge earmuffs/headphones? Did you throw your obviously three day old stale chips at the TV and scream to the heavens, OH DEAR GOD, why has thou forsaken this child? He's missing the opportunity to hear Who Dat nation screaming at the top of their lungs? Strike fear into the child's heart, let your headphone will be done, O LORD!!!!

This is college football, it has nothing to do with whatever the hell comparison you're trying to make between shareholders, profits, Q intervals, statistics, whatever and these student athletes. Like the NCAA commercials used to say, a lot of student athletes are going to go pro in something other than sports.

Playing football is not their JOB. If it was their JOB, this would be USC (that's Southern Cal, I'm assuming I'm going to have to aid you through some acronyms).

However, you're right. We're not other schools. We're LSU, and we will DAMN WELL DO WHAT WE PLEASE WITH A PAIR OF DAMN HEADPHONES.

Rant....over.

This has to be the biggest waste of 8 pages and counting on td.com ever. You old school hardarse, please quit whining and get over it because it's not going to stop. They listen to music to get in the zone. They block everything out with the music and focus on what their contribution is to the team for the game while getting the adrenaline pumping. Have you not ever heard a good upbeat song on the radio that just makes you want to go out and run, move, workout, do something? They're not there to win an election, they're not Obama, they're not McCain, it's not an election or popularity/beauty contest when they are making the walk so they're not going to come down the hill riding in the back of a car waving and blowing kisses to your ugly grill(face if you don't know what that means old codger)! It's the same thing as the stadium playing feel good upbeat music over the sound system or the band playing "hold that tiger" to get the fans loud and rowdy!
= You!

Oleheat,

Did you play the preacher or the cop that took away Kevin Bacon's cassette tapes on Footloose???

If so will you write a ticket to this banana for dancing? Or is is just illegal during pep rallies?
