Hands down. We should have moved Jones and let Lance start at RT. He said that he didn’t intend on sitting the bench his freshman year and he meant it. We could use him badly now.

He got torched play after play after play against Arkansas last year.

Was the main time I saw him but he was awful.

Also as a freshman he was a clear step down when he went in for Emory Jones 2 years ago.

He struggled ALL of last season as a full time starter. He was legitimately bad at times. It makes me laugh that so many wanted to re-shuffle the best OL we’ve had in the Kelly era for a guy who clearly still wasn’t 100% ready to start in the SEC a year later.

I swear I thought I remembered seeing that his grades got pretty good at the end of the year, but turns out I'm wrong

He gave up 2 sacks and 3 QB hits all year. You’re just pissy because he left LSU

frick no, wasn’t this guy suspended for lack of effort?

We don’t need guys that think they are bigger than the program.

Listen you clearly have some sort of relationship with his family so I’ll leave it at simply this.

While none up front are safe from criticism, Heard was the biggest letdown on the offensive line for the Vols. Between all of the pre-snap penalties and blown assignments, Heard fielded the roughest performance in the bunch among veterans John Campbell and Javontez Spraggins Saturday.

Here’s a Tennessee breakdown from that game

It wasn’t just me seeing it

Hell no! For one thing your line would have been worse. That’s why he wasn’t starting. An even bigger factor is what would this do to team morale? What would Frazier think about being benched because some pussy was crying? What would Jones think? And everyone else on the team would understand that this staff plays favorites for whiny bitches. That is corrosive of team chemistry and no good coach would do that.

Heard for sure. He was hurt last year and out of shape.

The OT's scare me this year wish we had someone like Heard to throw in there.

Somehow you and I are in the minority on this issue. Lance would be an immediate boost to OT.

Thinking he might improve THIS o line is very different then saying we should rearrange a cohesive unit to let him start as a true freshman OR guarantee that as a sophomore we would displace a two year starter at tackle for him to start as a sophomore while also breaking in a new qb who struggles under pressure.

I have to agree. I just hate that we lost him to Tenn. I spent quite a bit of time selling LSU to him and he was always upfront with everyone recruiting him that he wanted to play early. BK made that promise and I think that went a long way with Zalance. Then Z went and made that statement about wanting to play LT knowing that Will was a staple there. I hated to see him go, but he wasn’t the most rational kid that we have ever coached.

He wanted Campbell's job, not Jones

Before free transfers he would be the heir apparent left tackle, probably be a redshirt sophomore this year and have 2 years and leave or maybe stay for a 3rd, possibly to be the second straight LT to be drafted in the first round from LSU.

Unfortunately it’s the name of the game and I don’t necessarily blame him leaving but I also get the coaches side as well.

Yeah we all hate the way that it played out. Florida State came after him hard and we felt good about him enrolling at LSU. After he left Neville, he started getting some bad advice from family members and it just snowballed.

Just thought about him, but Suggs seemed to contribute some solid snaps last year, particularly on passing downs at the DT spot.
