For those who missed it. I think this pretty much sums up the man's career in the last 15-20 years.

LINK

... and it looks like lsusports.net is uploading highlights to soundcloud and posting the links. If this is a new thing, I like it.

What a game!

So glad he's almost done with baseball. His attempts to anticipate calls are aggravating as hell. Especially since he often gets it wrong.

Loved him ever since I was old enough to understand sports but I completely agree. And it's not just baseball--in a football game whenever he says, "there's nobody gonna catch him!" somebody gonna catch him about 75% of the time.

In his defense the 3rd base Ump seemed a little late on the signal Fair.

Not really. And here's a novel idea...wait until you see how it's called before making your radio call. The ball was so close for him to make a presumptuous call is just typical Hawthorne.

Not only that, but if you're listening to that you have no idea what exactly is happening. Where is the ball, is the fielder close, hell what side of the field are they on? None of that is conveyed, just basically a fan yelling "Tigers WIN" at this point.

Lay off the man. He has a lot more class than all of you gutless cowards who would pee all over yourself if you got behind the mike. It's easy to criticize him, but you could never do what he has done. Gutless cowards-ALL OF YOU CRITICS..

Relax, no one's hating. Hawthorne's the man. I went into broadcasting because of him..he just has a knack for stuff like this particularly in the latter part of his career. Just making fun-consider it a roast.

I do it every day. Not that hard when you're used to it. And Jesus take a freakin joke man.

Ahh..the Jack Hunt reference. Not that that has been overplayed or anything. Did you think of that all by yourself?

No, just watched the replay. The ump calls it just as the ball passes him at 3B. And it was clearly fair.
