Their pitcher just threw a high 80’s mph ball straight into the crowd. Went over the catcher’s head. Barely scrapes a fans hat. The guy that got scraped yells “do your f****** job” at the bullpen pitchers. Security came and told him to simmer down. Quite the event that unfolded.

Edit: My head was swiveled watching home plate as I saw the ball fly into the upper grandstand seats. His son got hit in the shoulder my mistake. Anyone who saw it would say his actions were justified in yelling at the terrible pitching. No one should fear getting hit by a ball that is controllable by a pitcher in a bullpen. A foul ball is the exception.

I'd blame LSU for going cheap and putting the bullpens in play.

Not to mention it looks like crap having them on field.

I agree. Plenty of space between the McDonald’s ad to the capital one ad to have a bullpen for LSU. The visitors cans be under the batter’s eye.

Bullpens in play are awesome. Also great for getting in the visiting teams head.

I may just be ungrateful but there's a lot of things that could be improved at the box. As more and more SEC schools upgrade their facilities LSU is going to get left behind.

They went so cheap on the box. And just gave us a bunch of excuses about how everyone wanted it like this. I agree the Box will get left behind

I saw Lange and someone else, forgot, tag people on section 101 when long tossing before games. Luckily they were big guys and could take the hit

Go to Carolina and Arkys new stadiums

You will see just how many corners lsu cut with the box

I will never understand why lsu, and louisiana in general, is so damn cheap and tacky

This! Lol. We were having a little fun messing with the Sacred Heart relievers when they were warming up. Their first guy, had long, effeminate hair, so we called him Hanson. He looked up for a minute as if the comment maybe bothered him. He got absolutely throttled once he was put in.

Maybe we got into his head, or maybe he just stunk, but it’s always fun to razz the other team’s pitchers when they are warming up.

Is it against the rules now to heckle the opposing pitching staff? I remember a whole lot worse being thrown out at opponents back in the old Box back in the 90s. I think our crowds now are MUCH gentler on the opposition than what used to be.

I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often. I’ve always felt a little gun shy sitting down there while a guy is in the bullpen.

Eddie Nunez oversaw construction of the new box right? There’s your answer

It could’ve, and can be, so much better. They put too much focus on the club and suites and cut corners everywhere else and it’s starting to show not even 10 years later.

Remember that awful batters eye we had to start with? And even the one today isn’t that great.

My biggest beef with Alex Box isn’t necessarily the stadium itself, but the advertising behind home plate. It is extremely tacky, busy and unnecessary. Look around the SEC and major college baseball and you not see it nearly as bad as LSU.

The janky Zatarains ad in right field right now is a disgrace. It looks like a smaller ad partially covering an older ad?

I’m surprised to see people down voting the idea of heckling opponents’ pitchers. I guess it’s not the vogue thing to do anymore?

I'm not. dont know what's happened to the baseball fans but it's definitely not the same atmosphere it was at the old box. The heckling was often just as entertaining as the game lol.
