I guess we will see. I think if bama wins out and Oregon wins out it will be between bama and Oregon for the 4th spot...right?

That is if UGA, Utah, Baylor lose....I know what you showed with vegas odds but I think if OU, Oregon and bama win out the 4th spot is between Oregon and bama

Oklahoma would play a huge roll

A 1 loss Oklahoma makes it between Oklahoma and Oregon

Then you need to go steal money from vegas

first of all how good are Oregon and Utahs resumes...bamas one loss would be against the #1 team in the country. Oregon and Utah would have losses against teams with 4-5 losses

You are basically following the narrative that the media is trying to push...that Bama's loss to the #1 team should mean as much as Oregon or Utah's extra win, if one of them wins the PAC XII with a 12-1 record. That concept is ludicrous. A "good" loss does not equal an win.

I don't agree simply bc there can be years we go 11-1 and miss out on SEC championship game

What you are saying here is want the rigged to benefit your team

Teams that don’t play in the CCG should definitely be excluded as long as you hold the CCG result AGAINST the loser. By allowing teams that don’t play in it to still be eligible you are essentially giving them a bye, it’s like the NFL having the top 4 teams play the WIld Card games and the winners play the 5 and 6 seeds.

The 4 “best” teams is not some scientific fact that can proven with formulas. It’s just an opinion. Most deserving is at least SUBJECTIVE and the 2 are mutual exclusive. Most of the time the most 4 deserving are the 4 best. Occasionally it might be the 3 or even just 2 best. So what? The only reason “one of the 4 best” would be excluded is because they have at least 1 loss.

impressive wins.

What's Bama's impressive win? They've only beaten one team with a winning record.

Their best "win" is a loss to us.

That’s all fine and they maybe but their schedule “up to this point” doesn’t say that. I also don’t agree with Georgia being there yet either.

If you look at all 8 teams outside of LSU/OSU/Clemson with real shot at the playoffs and then rank them among each other in the following 4 categories:

SOS
SOR
Top 10 Wins
Top 25 Wins

Then average out their rankings, this is what you get:

UGA - 2.25
Penn State - 2.25
Oregon - 3.25
Minnesota - 3.75
Utah - 4.5
Baylor - 4.5
Alabama - 4.75
Oklahoma - 5

ETA:

These metrics are staight off of ESPN's CFP rankings page and are what the committee supposedly uses. Makes sense why UGA is ahead of Bama, but some other teams likely should be as well.

The rush to turn CFB into NFL-Lite is ruining the sport.

Preach. I've heard this argument from so many primarily NFL fans in regards to letting the players make $ in some fashion. "They have no other way to do it until the NFL!!!" That's not college footballs problem. College football wants to be an amateur league. It isn't supposed to be a minor league for the NFL. The closer it gets to that the worse it seems to get.

Presuming LSU, o-h-i-o and clemson go undefeated, bama WILL NOT make the four team tournament if Baylor - OU, or Oregon - Utah win out.

The current rankings are a snapshot of the tournament THIS WEEK. bama WILL NOT have the CV to keep a one-loss PAC XII, or one-loss Big 12 champion out of the tournament.

bama must hope all hell breaks loose... and the two times hell did break loose LSU played in the national championship game - 2007 and 2012.

I don't like the idea of rematches but can you imagine ANYTHING sweeter than bama tears twice in a season?... That's f-ing karma.

I would argue it is the perfect minor league for the NFL as it is now. At the end of the day, the upcoming proposed changes are as likely to hurt it in that regard as it will make it more so.

It's going to be more like NCAA basketball is to the NBA, which is in reality very little help.

Oregon is 6th...ou 10th. Hard to jump Oregon when Oregon will have beaten the 7th ranked team and OU just the 13th ranked team (as the rankings stand now)

I remember putting this on this board many times and was told it would be more fair. LOLOLOLOL

All this playoff does is allow ESPN to force more of their "money" teams into it.

CFB has NEVER been about who is most deserving. The closest we ever came to that was the BCS Formula, but that was dismissed as soon as a big money team (USC) was left out.

OU is 10th. They dropped another spot last week. They would really need to start playing much better to jump the 6 teams ahead of them and the Baylor game isn't even that big of a deal because they are 13th and when they lose will drop even more.

For now

This week, Oklahoma plays the #13 team on the road

They make a jump with that win

Also, Bama will move to 6 this week assuming a UGA and Minny win

You think? Northwestern is turrible.

I'm stupid they play Iowa. Yeah they might lose.

To Northwestern? They're 1-8 (0-7)

They got blown out by Indiana and Michigan State and lost to Nebraska. Their only win is UNLV.
