Now don’t get me wrong I’m extremely happy about where our Tigers are sitting and am completely enjoying that let’s just get that out of the way.
A few years back I teased myself thinking this new playoff system would cut out the bullshite that ended the 2011 season but what it’s done is actually open more of the possibility for that to happen. The human voting by the panel or whatever it is completely partial to what teams have done in past years and not the body of work on the current season.
Let’s face the facts if we had Bamas schedule this year and lost at home to them the way we beat that arse on Saturday (score didn’t do justice) we would be sitting no higher than 8-10 with zero chance of fighting back into the Top 4.
Its almost gotten to a point where Id rather rely on a system of algorithms to figure out the 4 deserving teams. Obviously with quality points going to road wins , beating ranked teams and championships starting with division and then overall conference.
This has been said I know but just aggravating thinking about it and this is the Rant for better or worse.

BCS was fine. Just needed to add 2 teams to the mix

Agreed but other conferences wouldnt let it happen. Too easy for multiple SEC teams to qualify each year.

The BCS top 4 would have been exactly the same as the playoff committees top four ever season so far.

So what's your complaint?

Many of us said this.

And this.

Well even in that case we would have more quality wins and a western division championship but because of the late season loss it would probably would bump us out.

1 LSU
2 Ohio State
3 Clemson
4 Alabama

That’s what the BCS would look like now

I would prefer the BCS computer to determine the final 4 teams...even so I still think bama would be in the hunt. It should be about the best 4 making the playoffs.

A few guidelines need to be put into place.

One of them? If you don’t participate in a conference championship, no opportunity for a playoff spot.

If there’s a good reason why this shouldn’t work I’d be curious to hear.

Bama will be an easier and more satisfying semifinal matchup than OSU or Clemson.

Some of y’all need to grow a pair and stop fearing Bama in a potential rematch. We’d just whip their arse again if it happens.

How I just don’t get that with Minnesota beating a #4 team last week. We all know the BCS had some things that needed some tweaks too but it was close and left debate but still was more fun.

Every single year so far the Playoff top 4 has matched the BCS top4

The current BCS ranking actually has Alabama number 4 if you were wondering....

Now, yes, but Bama wouldn't be able to hold that spot ahead of one-loss conference champs.

I don't agree simply bc there can be years we go 11-1 and miss out on SEC championship game. Doesn't mean we aren't one of the top 4

The rush to turn CFB into NFL-Lite is ruining the sport. And idiots who want to expand to 8 teams are really just saying they want to guarantee that Bama, OSU, and Oklahoma get to go to the playoffs every year.

And they won’t with the playoff committee either. Y’all are freaking paranoid

It is entirely possible to have multiple conference champions with 2 or more losses, and nowhere near sniffing top four ranking, while other teams in the same conference or non-champions from other conferences could have a better record and SOS

Put another way, if 2 or 3 underdogs win their conference championship game. . .

If Oregon wins the Pac 12 and bama throttles Auburn why would Oregon be better? They haven't played a tough schedule either
