The Times-Picayune's Peter Finney once said the perfect season for LSU fans would be: unbeaten, untied, unscored upon -- and fire the coach at the end of the season
Wow Chicken should be happy that Finney visits this site.

Few abuses of the English language fire me up more than "impact" as a verb
Carl could you explain? Impact is definitely a verb.

Media made distraction. I think we've played FOUR games in Athens since 1987. FOUR.
Really the 2003 SEC championship beatdown should count too, it was played in Atlanta. Then again the beating LSU took two years later would count too.
I only found three on lsusports.net that were actually in Athens:
31-10 Sept. 7, 91
23-22 Oct. 2, 99
45-15 Oct. 2, 04
There was a long stretch in the early to mid 90's where they just didn't play each other.

The commercial that might be the better theme for this LSU season is Messin' With Sasquatch. A program with the talent of a monster, just winning every week and minding its business, and everyone's trying to give it a hot foot. Wake a sleeping giant? How about tweaking it, pissing it off?
Nice, should be Messin' With Hattsquatch though.

Miles letting the first half end without LSU trying a field goal or a bomb into the end zone? Inexcusable, and he knows it.
I voted LSU would win by 10 or less. After watching the D dominate the first half and then watching LSU just give away the last minute of the second quarter it just continued to solidify some of the things I think Miles stinks at. Namely game planning and clock management, and it drives me bat shite. Great win Tigers, good to see TB Hebert slide off his primary responsibility and put a great block on a UGA linebacker helping spring Scott for the last TD, great effort in a tough game.

Carl, I hated your columns in The Advocate, but this one, I must say, is very good. You might be getting close to changing my opinion of sportswriters. Maybe SOME of you aren't completely useless.

Impact is a noun.
e.g. The LB hit the QB with an impact.
The Coach had a great impact on his players.
It has been misused in the past many years.

Your best story of the season. It was tight, funny, clever and well argued.
You really impacted The Rant with this one...

"Efforting" was Jordy's pet word for awhile. He always said they were "efforting" to get some guest or another on his radio show.

Great job on this blog Carl. I read every word and loved it. Please keep it coming, and for the candid comments. You know your stuff, have a great perspective, and your writing style is very fun to read. Thanks!

Take 15 yards from #8's kick off return. Then look at Scott's TD run. Nobody would have caught him no matter where the line of scrimmage was. Also Ga. had the same chance and didn't run the ball back very well, then had an interception. i.e. no significant advantage from the referees for either team.
