Hate to say it, but Matt House will be a hot commodity.

It seems likely that suitors will come calling and a Head Coaching opportunity will be coming soon. Y’all think we can throw the house at House and keep him here?

Money makes people do crazy things.

He should stay and win a Natty as a D coordinator. Not everyone is meant to be a head coach

Can’t we just enjoy an unexpected great season without finding something negative to post FFS.

Not trying to be negative. Just making a realistic observation. The dude can coach, and he’s got a great resume. Somebody will have him on their short list. That’s just a reality. I sure hope we can find a way to keep him around.

Go check out Kelly’s past DC’s.

Like the last 4 are head coaches right now. It’s a feature, not a bug,

Without Perkins he is on no one’s radar.

This is going to happen but more likely in a few years when it’s a school that wouldn’t force him to take a pay cut to be the head coach there.

Totally agree. Either way, Kelly will figure it out, and I trust him to make the best of it.

Maybe NFL DC

Don’t think he is HC material. Doesn’t have the personality for it

I’m thinking Kelly picked his staff and has them for a couple of years.

He could’ve become an NFL DC from the Chiefs.

College coordinators pay as much, and often more, than NFL coordinators.

I’m not aware of a single current NFL defensive coordinator that went straight from college coordinator to NFL coordinator.

It’s happened a few times in the past, mostly on offense: Sarkisian, Brady, Cohen.

It’s very uncommon and not the normal path if that was his goal.

When someone says they are just being “realistic” they are being negative, trying to find something to whine about. Was his name linked to a job today? Nope you just had a thought that someone on the staff might leave because that’s normal and positive

For the 40 years I’ve followed LSU some fans bemoaned the “realistic” possibility that the coach (usually the head coach) would leave. Its fricking pathetic. Some of you just can’t enjoy the moment.

Ultimately if your coordinators leave to be head coaches that’s a good thing. It’s means they are doing a great job and it makes your coordinator spots appealing to others. There is literally no reason to fret about it 10 games into year 1 which is a surprisingly better year than anyone expected. Just enjoy the fricking season and don’t look for something to be negative err “realistic” about

Good programs rotate coordinators because they're good enough to get HC gigs. It's a great problem to have.
