Good catch.

I am not sure McCaniel was on that team. I think he played later with Risher and Wickersham. Seems like he caught a pass with seconds left to set up a tying field goal in Jackson around 1985.
The last gasp pass vs USC I believe went to a running back and I believe it was one of the Jones twins.

Leroid and Leroyal Jones from Baker. Leroid put on a show vs. USC in that famous game from the late 70's.

Beat me to it. The Boudreaux brother in basketball both signed with LSU but only one played due to the other having grad issues as I recall.

There have been a few pairs of siblings, but no twins. Although, there are some trying out soon.

Excerpt from 2004 Reveille article:
USC got the first down and drove down the field. McDonald hit receiver Kevin Williams on an eight yard touchdown with 32 secondsleft to play to put the Trojans up 17-12.
LSU managed one last gasp. A personal foul on the ensuing kickoff gave the Tigers the ball at their own 42-yard line. Ensminger found Robert DeLee for a 28-yard gain to the USC 30 with eight seconds to go. On the next play Ensminger looked for Willie Turner in the end zone, but the pass glanced off Turner's fingers and fell incomplete.
The Tigers tried one more bomb into the end zone, but it was batted down as time expired.
(But there was no "Willie Turner" on the '79 LSu team. Tracy Porter is what they meant. And the last pass that was 'batted away' had Porter and Orlando McDaniel back there jumping...

I was at that game, half of the usc line stood up on the play that the pac-10 ref gave Thibodeaux a face mask penalty, total frick job, who's to say they might not have made a first after the penalty but our defense was down their throat all day long and it would have made it 4th and 14 iirc

Orlando McDaniel, Carlos Carson, and Tracy Porter were on that 1979 LSU team.
But the last post with the link to the 2004 Reveille story about "Willie Turner almost catching the last pass against USC" is incorrecet. Willie Turner was NOT on that roster. I don't know where they got that from.
I know the first Hail Mary pass went through the hands of Tracy Porter, and the very last one was batted down but McDaniel was down there. He was a Junior in '79. Both of those last passes from the USC 30 were on the right center side of the NEZ at the very back.

The real question is: Has there been any twins cheerleaders\golden girls at LSU?
Posted on 2/23/15 at 5:59 pm to roguetiger15
LeRoid and LeRoyal Jones.
ETA: I believe Jimmy and Gene Knect were twins. One of them transferred to Northwestern (LA), though.

The pass on the second to last play of the USC game went inches out of the reach of Willie Turner, who was really track guy. He was the same age of me and I had him a few classes. Not sure if he ever caught a pass as a Tiger. He didn't even lay out for the ball. Happened right in front of me in the N endzone.
The cheerleaders that were twins in the early 80's were the Schieber's who were from Baton Rouge.

You are correct.
