Most of Mainieri’s recruits weren’t big enough to get in the MLB
He loved the 5’4” 145lbs players
The shortest player during Mainieri's years as HC at LSU was Tyler Hanover and he was 5'6" and he weighed 163 lbs. He was a 4 year starter (2009-2012) mostly at third base.

Yeah, except DJ is 35 now.
Not surprised the #2 overall pick had a better career early on

DJ was clutch at lsu.

ETA: YouTube video of the play, and he was safe, Javi Sanchez gets thrown out of the game over the bad call by second base umpire

No they aren’t.

Career WAR:

#813: Aa Nola - 31.7
#823: DJ Lemahieu - 31.5

Ridiculous statement.

He’s 6-7 younger too. It took Lemahieu awhile to become a household name or even a regular starter. Bregman reached that the minute he entered the majors and it only took him like a year to get called up

Bregman is similar to Dustin Pedroria at this point in their respective careers. Pedroria was considered well on his way to the HOF until injuries derailed him.

It took lemahieu going to the Yankees to become a household name.
A great tiger and a solid major leaguer who can help any team but if he didn’t play for the Yankees most average baseball fans don’t know career hitters with a sub .800 ops where the majority of their career was a coors

Surprised I didn’t get an offer from LSU

This is so false. Mainieri put a large number of players into the majors.
I feel like this whole false idea of Mainieri loving small players got started because of Tyler Hanover and how small he was.

Nah, Pedroia has an MVP and has gold
gloves at a more difficult position. Hard to blame injuries on Pedroia, he just got old. Bregman will be 30 at the start of this season he likely has 3-5 good years left. Hall of Fame seems unreachable unless the Astros go for a 3 peat and he’s WSMVP for all or at least 2 of them.

With worse stats than Bregmans runner up season.

Total War at age 29 was very similar

No cheating scandal tied to Pedroia’s. Bregman has at best a fringe shot at the HoF and the trashcan blew any of that. If Kenny Lofton isn’t in and it took 19 years to do right by the Crime Dog Bregman has no case.

DJ has been my personal favorite lsu baseball player since he was on the team. Was at a game when he made this incredible mid air between the legs catch and I’ve been a huge fan of his ever since.

DJ is by far the better Offensive player.
Bregman has yet to make an All Star team without wearing a buzzer. His numbers have dropped significantly since 2019 and I wonder why.

Bregman has an OPS from 2020 to now of .804 and OPS+ of 123
Lemhieus career OPS is .769 (mind you a lot at coors) and ops+ of 102
Don’t know why people on an LSU board keep trying to put down the best lsu player in the MLB

He's not a better offensive player than Bregman, certainly not "by far"

Oh, you're one of those guys
Maybe you can explain why he had significantly better numbers on the road than at home in 2019. Weird right
