the offense is gonna be just fine.

An extra 7 or 8 homers from one of the other guys would be great
That's a good point. Increased power numbers from several guys (Ochinko, Gibbs, DJ) could offset the loss of Matt Clark and his 28 HRs.

But if we can get an extra 4-5 bombs from guys like Ochinko, Landry, Lamahiu, etc. it will make up for that total from last year.
Yes, and it might prove to be even more beneficial than one guy hitting 28.

I just think we have a pretty heavy sophomore class and those guys are bound to see some increased numbers in the power department. Wonder what Mahtook will do in his role and some other bench guys. And I'm excited to see Chad Jones out there, he's a ridiculous specimen.

Bingo
was gonna post the exact same thing....power number usually increase a great deal from freshman years...look at Dean's numbers. I think he had 8 or so HRs his first year.

I agree. But it's going to be difficult for Chad if he misses the 20 games mentioned due to spring football practice. He has mad skills but he has to be in the lineup consistently to make gains.

J Mitch will hit 6th. Ochinko 7th from what I understand.

I just noticed we have a freaking lot of left handed hitters...are we gonna space these guys out or just load it up with lefties?

We had the same situation last year. at one point it was a seemingly non ending string of LH hitters. PM did a good job in the second half of the season spacing them out.

Well...J mitch, Schimpf, Dean, and Landry are our definite 3 lefties.
Gibbs is a switch hitter.
DJ, Helenihi, and Ochinko ar righties. Now, if CJ starts, that's 5 lefties in the lineup...kinda crazy unless a righty is on the mound. But maybe against lefties, Dishon or Mahtook get the nod. I can live with 4 lefties in the lineup to change things up....we'll see.

I'd think it would be Mitchell at 2 and Schimpf back in the 9 hole like last year.
Schimpf is prob our 2nd best hitter and shouldnt be hitting 9th
id actually like him hit 3rd or 4th, but 2nd is good. Should see a lot of pitches hitting in front of Dean

He was a pretty good hitter last year, yet he batted 9th.

because LSU went on a run when he was batting 9th. They kept him there. He needs to be up in the lineup, and PM seems to agree.
at that point last year, they didnt want to mess with the chemistry.

As a base running specialist. You may have hit upon something.

They are realy expecting some serious power numbers out of him this year. 2 HR last year and he could do something like 15-20 this year.
I heard he had 2 longballs going in opposite directions the other day at practice.

I don't disagree with that at all. I'm just going by last year's lineup. I thought he was too good for the 9 hole last year too but, he was there. I guess if Dean plays LF, whoever the DH is will bat 9 ?

I know this doesn't mean much but Buddy Songy had Bill "Pipes" Frances(that's what Buddy called him) on his show today.
He said the lineup was:
L. Landry
Schrimp
Dean
Gibbs
DJ
J. Mitch
Chad Jones(DH)
Ochinko
Helenihi
He said Jones and Dean would both play LF and DH

Top to bottom, I wouldn't want to face this lineup.

I like JMitch at 5 or 6 due to his ability to drive in runs. Plus he Ks way to much to hit in the top three spots.

I felt the same way during most of last season. but , he seemed to pick it up during the post season.
