Charles McClendon went on to be the Executive Director of the Tangerine Bowl (now Citrus Bowl) and did a hell of a job building it up and promoting it.

Mack Brown left before the year Stovall was fired.

Clever to limit it to fired, and leave out Saban, nice!

He is trying to find out if Miles has a chance at getting another job.

Maybe it's more like, once you are HIRED at LSU you have been given the kiss
of death coaching football . . . . History certainly so indicates.

Don't give me the crap about Saban wanting to leave the Fins either. He was shown the door.

No. The Fins were very pissed off at him for leaving. He was angry with them because their medical staff hadn't cleared Drew Brees to play for them, so he went to New Orleans and Miami got Daunte Culpepper(?) who didn't have a good season (may have gotten hurt?) while Brees lit it up in New Orleans.

I don't remember if he was fired or just a victim of the Stovall firing, but Mack Brown went on to something better.

Mack Brown was neither fired or a victim of Stovall. He was a one and done coach at LSU. He had a reputation for jumping in and out of jobs in his early career.

Neither Carroll nor Spurrier were fired from college jobs. In fact, Spurrier won an NC before leaving for the Redskins. Coaching in the NFL is much different from coaching in College. I cannot remember a fired college head coach after Gene Stallings suceeding at another major college. If you know of someone, post it.

How many coaches not in the NFL go on to a lot of success after being fired?

I would love to say that LSU is top of the heap, I hope we reach that status soon, but that being said, once you get fired by a school the caliber of LSU, the spiral will ALWAYS be down.
