There were some moments of brilliance.
But in the end, he was mostly hype and potential and little performance.

We never saw the full potential from both

We saw the full potential a couple times his freshman year. Yall just overreacted to that and expected even more

In your opinion could anyone on the bench have stepped in for Perkins without significantly impacting the defense?

I'm not sure I really understand what you're asking. Do I think Perkins was the best option? Probably. I don't know what the stats were with him vs without him after his various injuries. My point was that many talk about him as though he is/was a superstar, and his play just wasn't at that level. Sure, he made some great plays, but they were too few and far between. I think one problem with the defense is that it was built around a player who tended to check out during long stretches of games. Unfortunately the most memorable play of his for me was Perkins watching Vanderbilt score a touchdown at the goal line on second effort while he just stood there.

I’m glad to see him go. He wasn’t an asset when it mattered, ever. He was lazy and took a ton of plays off, right down to the end against OU.

It’s the end of a much hyped era.

he should have been charged for a season ticket this year, he had the best seat in the house for all of the plays he stood there flat footed and watched

My money will be him taking it to another level in the NFL, similar to what Danielle Hunter did at Minnesota. Certainly not as a full-time pass rusher, but an ATH LB/S hybrid that makes plays.

I'm guessing his testing numbers (40, agility drills, etc) will be impressive. It will be interesting to see how his future NFL team employs him.

He's a tweener. Almost like a Jabrill Peppers but taller. I don't think he's that explosive either, so I'm really not sure where he lands position wise.

I think he's gotten a good bit slower too, or he's been hobbled. I haven't seen burst from him this year very much like we saw freshman year.

Hate these types of threads. I don't mind pissing all over the coaches when they need it; but not the players.

Perkins, at the very least, gave us an entire season I will never forget.

Thanks for that Perk! And good luck to you and thanks for the time and loyalty you had to my Alma mater!
