24 years ago today, unranked LSU beat #5 Auburn in Tiger Stadium, 12-6.
The game was only available on Auburn Network, not even TigerVision picked up this game.
The game started at 7pm and ended at 9:23pm. The crowd of 80,559 was the second-largest at the time. Auburn came into the game averaging 61 points, but was held to six by James Gillyard, Gabe Northern and Co.
Jamie Howard threw five INTs in the ‘94 Auburn game, three being pick 6s.
The only INT of this game was the game winner, with Troy Twillie intercepting the ball with Patrick Nix throwing from the Tiger 15 yard line as time expired.

I was there and it was amazing. When that ball was picked, the stadium exploded. It was so much fun.
ETA: I was also at Auburn the previous year (I was in Tiger Band) and saw Howard’s epic meltdown. I was very impressed at the way he improved before his senior season and got redemption. He was solid in that game and it was great to see him bounce back from such a tough outing the year before. You have to respect that.

That was an amazing day! I was in 10th grade me and my buddy had a fall baseball game that day. My parents were attending the game and my brother and one of his buddies (going in my place) We finished the DH early and we raced to the stadium.
We didn’t have tickets paid 90 bucks for two tickets in the south end zone. We got to the top of the hill just as the band hit that note. I will never forget that site or sound!We had 10 bucks left got 2 nachos and 2 drinks park our buts in the south end zone. Needless to say my parents were shocked to see us! They were a few sections over. I wil never forget that night neither will my buddy. Sadly he passed away unexpectedly at age 21 in a bad car wreck. I still talk to my parents and his till this day about that night!

Auburn was on probation so the game couldn’t be picked up by the normal networks.
ETA: Maybe that was 93 they were on probation.

and the rules committees still think the reason games are 4+ hours now has something to do with gameplay and not all the damn commercials.

Back in the good ole days when fans cheered and actually came for the game and all the way to the end. This game today would have 1/4 the stadium have to leave to beat the traffic, get a beer, insert excuse...wait all damn year for football and can’t sit the three hours and watch it. Pitiful. Oh and I was at this one. My first year buying season tickets after I graduated in 93.

Great game, bar in Nashville was packed so had to watch the game thru window outside. Bunch of people doing the same outside.

I drove down Friday night from Ft Sill, Ok for that game. Took a young Lieutenant who was one of my 2 Platoon Leaders who worked for me. He graduated from Clemson but he also liked LSU. When Troy made that INT, the place exploded. Was one of Coach Dinardo’s finer moments.

I love rewatching those highlights from mid to late 90s and early 2000s when we were on the way back up. The crowd was technically smaller but they were packed in tight and loud all the time. It just had a different feeling back then like if you werent going crazy then you werent doing your part. Times and culture has changed. Id rather be good but those were fun times

I imagine trying to explain this to college kids (and younger) today that LSU games used to NOT be on TV every week would blow their minds similar to telling my own kids that I'm older than DVR & Google.

For some odd reason he seems to always get left out of the conversation of great defensive LSU players. DBU gets a lot of talk, but d lineman wise it seems McFarland, Dorsey, Brockers, Logan, Lavalais, Woods, Kyle Williams and others get more praise than Northern.
Northern was a great pass rusher. Perhaps he played at the wrong time and on bad teams is why he isn’t that talked about

I was at that game and remember that three Auburn fans in their forties sat down in front of my dad and me. When LSU got the ball, one of them, in a highly sarcastic voice shouted, "Come on, Jamie, throw it." I tapped him on the shoulder and suggested to him that he might not like it so much when Jamie threw it this year.
Then, Jamie went to work. Each time he completed a pass, picking Auburn apart, I shouted in an equally sarcastic voice, " Come on, Jamie, throw it." I watched as his neck got redder and redder. Finally, just before the half, without a word to his two companions, he got up and left. He never returned.

My brother-in-law and I rode up to Baton Rouge without tickets and put up two fingers as game time approached. Was looking bleak when I turned around and heard “Let’s go the game” from him. He had dropped $150 total. Both of us had been out of school and out of state for a few years so we had not seen a game in too long.
We sat in the corner of the North end zone at the top. That interception was right in front of us and the stadium erupted. Another magical night in TS. Fond memory.
