for sure we practiced a bunch of different stuff prior to last year's NC game, then, for whatever reason, didn't run it?

been discussed

kinda have to make a first down every once in awhile to continue a drive and MAYBE run some of those plays

but the rantards will disagree

Hanagriff said it.

There is nothing to discuss about our preparation for a game played last year.

It has no basis of prediction on what will happen in 2 weeks.

Both JJ (during an interview with an Atlanta area radio station) and DeAngelo Peterson (before the Senior Bowl?) made comments along the line that the game plan for Bama on 1/9 was to use a lot of five wide sets (basically take the tack that Utah did in '08).

Supposedly, that was the plan and that was what was praticed but not what was attempted during the game.

I've never heard Les, Hanigriff (sp?) or others address why we didn't.

I swear from reading this board and secr you'd think Les was 0-6 vs Saban rather than 3-3

Doesn't matter what his record is, the next game is all that matters.

Les addressed it. Said you have to make first downs to call more plays

do we really need to go thru this shite again?

the JJ fumble on 3rd and 2 et all

if you can't stay on the field, how can you call more or different plays?

I had heard this right after the game. It came from a player on the offensive side of the ball.

Kind of like striking out without taking a swing. Info says LSU practiced a lot of new wrinkles before the debacle 01/09/2012 that involved Sheperd, JL, WR, and others including players that left early for the NFL. Just makes one wonder why CLM is so hardheaded and will NOT make adjustments.

It's a New season, let's just play this game and leave the rest in the past.

Can you line-up 5-wide on 1st down? 2nd down? 3rd down?

To my knowledge Les (nor pundits) addressed the veracity of JJ/DP's statements.

There is no secret offense. Don't you think we would have pulled it out in the UF game if we actually had something??

I never said there was a secret offense. That's totally different than practicing plays for weeks then throwing them away, which is what some people alleged.

The offense you see is all there is, and it has Miles' gruppy fingerprints all over it.

of course and they attempted

they ran a couple of the "new" plays in the second half, but they were not executed, wr open on the sideline etc, down the seam, JJ overthrew both i I remember correctly...3 and out

- No issues with you and my apologies for the sarcastic tone.

I was just trying to offer what I recall about the plan as praticed (according to the former players and post-game interviews) and the game as played.

The MSO - Mythical Secret Offense - is one of my favorite parts of the post Jimbo era.

no problem I get it

Miles stated afterwards that they did work on other stuff but when you can't get a first down (which they couldn't) that it was hard to get to some of the stuff they worked on

I also get that fans think that means well you should have started drives off with the stuff you worked on and I don't really disagree with that

bottom line is the O couldn't stay on the field long enough to run much if anything that could have worked. many want Miles head for that and I get that too

me I think players play the game and execute. If you don't execute, well coaches get blamed then. But IMO some of the players didn't get it done in that game

most will blame Miles

Wow are you serious? The head coach has something to do with the offense we are running. I am going to need a link to believe that!

You do understand the inherent stupidity of this discussion point as a legitimate excuse for the gameplan, right?

I had resigned myself to simply lurk in this thread and not post, but it seems as if you actually take it at face value.

If you do, then let me ask why you wouldn't get to those plays a bit faster? What FORCES you to not use those plays from the very first offensive snap? Did he have some sort've mental checklist in that he couldn't surprise anyone with something new or innovactive UNTIL he had called the typical plays that got jammed down his throat?

If you're not getting anywhere running the plays you like, why is it that you must succeed running those before you run any others?

I'm waiting...

.....

........

...........

Still waiting...

...................

That's right, there is absolutely no excuse. His foot was on the brake, and he was content to lose that game rather than try something other than what he thought was best.

Congrats. You got the worst beating in BCS Championship Game History. In your program's back-yard. To your program's last head-coach. Who preceeded you.

BUT AT LEAST YOU GOT TO CALL YOUR SHITTY arse PLAYS, COARCH!

/end rant
