You clearly don't know the meaning of the word literally.

Than Alleva should have never made those two his top two candidates. That means his search was a fail from the beginning because he had an unrealistic plan. He should have had other candidates lined up and had interviews.

but if Texas hadn't fired Strong Herman would be our coach...and all the crybabies here would be saying how great JA is? or would they cry over something else?

It's pretty telling that people losing their minds butcher the English language worse than Orgeron does.

You're right in the sense that Alleva can't MAKE Herman or Jimbo (or any coach) accept the job. However, his comment that "LSU was not going to get in a bidding war" is what troubles me. LSU NEEDED a HC. They didn't have a ton of leverage in the situation, so Alleva HAD to know that if he wanted one of his top choices he was going to have to pay probably even much more than he wanted to. To get angry because those coaches used their significant leverage in the negotiations is asinine

quote:

CEO got the job bc he's the best option alleva had.

Is he? His one stint as a HC was a failure (he won more SEC games this year than he did in 3 with Ole Miss) and he is a life long position coach. If Ed truly was "the best" option, then why hasn't any other program wanted him as anything more than a DL coach since he left Ole Miss in 2007?

Just because you miss out on your top target doesn't mean you pout and accept the easy hire. What was the rush to name O the head coach BEFORE the season even ended? There were no power conf. programs looking to swoop in and hire O as their HC. He could have extended the search for another 2-3 weeks and then come back to O if necessary.

Larry Fedora and Mike Gundy were mentioned as possibilities. Maybe neither had intentions of leaving their current jobs. However, I don't think OSU or UNC was going to break the bank to keep them. Maybe they would have ultimately failed at LSU, who knows? You can only go on past history to make an educated guess about the future, and with those two guys we at least know (much like Miles and Saban) they have had past success as HCs.

Alleva hasn't exactly hit any big coaching hires out of the park here at LSU, and this hire looks much more like the Johnny Jones hire than the Miles/Saban hires

Strawman argument. What about the 20 (at a minimum) or so coaches that are more qualified that O that weren't even considered by Alleva?

Alleva led us all to believe that we would hire either Fisher or Herman as a priority. So all of you who say that Fisher and Herman were never coming here will admit that Alleva got played?

And what makes you think that Alleva actually did a search. Every one is waiting on the evidence. All other evidence points to "no search".

Trump is a good comparison, actually. He also got the job because the only other option was arguably shittier.

no, actually it is a sophomoric strawman argument only a miles pumper would present. O was not elected nor went through a primary. you are comparing apples to walnuts.

if you really do not know this and you live in state you have not been a fan or monetary supporter of this program for long. That much is obvious.

Wow they are ranking the SEC coaches. Orgeron is near the bottom. Not even top 10

This sums up everything we need to know about Joe "I am the search" Alleva.

We can only speculate about the future based upon the past. With all due respect to CEO, this hire was the most underwhelming option imaginable.
