Am I right in that the conundrum that exists is:

Tyrannn is expecting to meet certain criteria to achieve reinstatement,(stay eligible academically, drug treatment, drug tests, good citizen etc) and LSU is probably not in position to do more than a "gentlemans agreement" for legal reasons.

So basically, Tyrann has to take their word for it ? Because at this level there could be legal exposure, right ?

Is that the issue ,behind the issue, behind the issue.?

for McNeese
Aug 13: Late registration begins; 7:45 a.m.
Aug 15: Classes begin.
Aug 16: Late registration ends.
Aug 17: Late registration fee payment deadline; 4:00 p.m.
Someone had mentioned to me they thought you had to be attending classes by the first day in order to play. So all in all sounds like it is working out for him to stay at LSU. I wish him well regardless.

And he definitely doesn't need to go into that meeting with a chip on his shoulder. He screwed up, he now needs to own that and accept the consequences and be humbled by the entire process and respect the rules and those enforcing them.

This should be no "negotiation.".....LSU says "you do XYZ, and there is no other way" and he should reply "yes sir."

... and if he does this, takes his lumps, and comes back ...

Out of all the questions you could ask about this situation, that's the one you go with

I agree though. Kinda weird

I'm wondering (not reading 5 pages) if they say to him "you may be able to join the team next year, but we just can't make that decision today"
I wonder if he would risk sitting out a year on the hope that they will bring him back next year. That would be a test of his character and dedication to LSU to see if he would stick it out with no definite answer on whether he will or won't make the team in the future.

I hope they give him the chance. Selfishly I hope it because I want to see him play in purple and gold. I also want it because it would likely be the best thing for him.

Like him claiming a year from now, when things may not have gone as planned, that there was a "verbal contract" of some kind..and that LSU would not honor said contract.

Yeah seems like there would have to be a type of contract outlining all things required by TM to be able to come back. I see what your saying. I'm sure LSU has legal counsel looking this over and advising. All parties have to be very clear on expectations.

LSU can not guarantee him anything, neither can McNeese or any other school. Once he makes the grades & stays out of crap, then LSU could then step in, evaluate the entire situation & then make a decision at to take him back on the team. The meeting will probably be more about what would be expected of TM in the coming yr to even be considered elgible for the team again. But a question: he has to sit out the "year": is that a year by the school calander, i.e. Sept 2012 to June 2013?

If he is eligible for the draft next April, isn't all of this moot as far as playing football for LSU again?

All this speculation is what it is.

The thing that I haven't seen posted (maybe I just haven't read all the posts) is that to put on a Purple and Gold Jersey and play under the lights is a priveledge not a right and those players earn the right to be dressed out. Certainly we all make mistakes but his actions affect the team. I'm on the fence on this one. I do hope the best for this kid, but he has to want it and decide that choices do matter. He is the only one that can do this for himself. Would be a neat thing though to see him have another opportunity but we shouldn't expect that everyone be ignorant to his choices that placed him in this situation. Entitlement generation.

This sounds greaat but what about the Bo statement that TM7 definitely cant come back to the LSU football team next year. Does he absolutely not know what he is talking about?
