So...is this a nothing burger or a genuine situation?

Seems unsettling all this would come out and affect things all of a sudden the Thursday before Game 1 with what reportedly occurred LAST YEAR, what the reported acts got classified as and their consequent punishments, and the Tiger staff and media presumably having all this in mind when they signed them out of the portal last spring

I love Gilbert, Toviano, Ausberry, and our elite freshmen safety class but would like clarity on all this so as to avoid disadvantageous surprises

No it's not - every team that plays deals with something early - IMHO not a reason to duck anyone week one. In fact I prefer it as a means to find out early what you have....no issue.

Cause our safety may be out for a half, c'mon we have good depth there now, no need to be so dramatic.

I bet both play, but whoever decided to do this in 2018 should be fired if still there.

Wow that's really dramatic.

How about we just go the Michigan route and select the most convenient time for him to serve his suspension. He'll sit out the 2nd half of the Louisiana Tech game in week 2.

If LSU is starting Gilbert in his place they're in trouble for a half of football lol. Sorry to say.

Gilbert has been bad since TAMU and he was worse than Sage Ryan last year. I don't want him sniffing the field at LSU except in blowouts.

Considering the other NC State players that were ejected are sitting the 1st half of their opener. Cooley might be SOL.

I'd play Haulcy. And heck, if it wasn't documented that Cooley was ejected for "fighting", play him too.

What's there to discuss? Sounds like it's either he's good to go or he's suspended and they trying to find away around it. If that's the case, tell them to kick rocks they're not taking this game away from LSU or vacating whatever LSU does during the season. Man up. The NCAA has no power here and should be disbanded at this point anyway.

Seems like it’s unclear what he was really ejected for. Unsportsmanlike conduct- no suspension. Fighting- suspension.

Thankfully LSU doesn’t have to hold players to the same code of conduct as BYU. Tigers might be in trouble if that were the case lmao

I haven't seen anything to suggest the suspension the BYU player served was a school enforced penalty rather than an NCAA enforced penalty. Certainly, I hope that is the distinction, but it doesn't look like it.

We can try to keyboard litigate it as much as possible, but the BYU player served a suspension the next game. Saturday is Haulcy's next game after the ejection

Didn’t Houston play in a bowl game? If so, shouldn’t the suspension been served then?

Can't really see what's going on in that video either. Maybe the BYU player initiated a punch or was more flagrant than what Haulcey did in retaliation.

Found the full game replay on YouTube. The ruling on the field was unsportsmanlike conduct and an ejection. That is also how it is listed in the final box score. I hope whoever will make this final decision doesn't dive too deep into the video, because ESPN shows a replay where Haulcy very clearly throws several punches.

Haulcy is the guy on the D that Hanagriff seems the highest on (though he sounds like he really likes a number of guys and things about this D).

It’s pretty simple. Play him against Clemson then hold him out against LA Tech.

If the NCAA throws a hissy fit? Ask why Sherone Moore got to pick
