Johnny Jones:
Ott- 5%, feels Jones has been too negatively presented thus far by everyone (thank god for td haha).
Pon: 10%, "appears the pressure/backfire" too much.
Hanagriff: didn't say

All seem in favor that this is a compliant athletic department and brought up JJ and his prior transgressions, regardless of the facts of the case, being a real negative for him.

And all have said you have to have head coaching experience for the hire. So no assistants.

Reggie Theus:
Ott: 15%
Pon: 25%, statistical leader due to relationship with Martin.
Han: States he will get an interview.

Tim Floyd:
Ott: 10%
Pon: 0%, even though cleared, handler situation too much to overcome.
Han: didn't say

Jaime Dixon:
Ott: 20%, thinks he's the favorite on our list but doesn't know if he wants it. Makes 1.6 at pitt. Seems we can go north of 2.
Pon: 5%, basically too unrealistic.
Han: love to have him but a hard get.

Scott Drew:
Ott: 0%, said he was 40% until until recent problems that will continue to plague them.
Pon: all in agreement with Ott.

Josh Pastner:
Ott: 25%, claims interest on both sides.
Pon: 20%, thinks he would be a homerun and compares record to Billy D. at marshall. But not sure if admin puts him up as high as they do.

Kermit Davis and Morehead Coach
Ott: agrees, says maybe 10% and discusses coach at oral roberts.
Pon: 5% both

Gregg Marshall:
Ott reiterates compliant admin.

Seems like they're a lot like us, and don't know. I was certain it was Jones as of last night, but hoping that it isn't. We'll see.

I agree, think it will be someone with a good resume, no ncaa issues, who is currently a head coach. That is what alleva said they were looking for basically. So no Drew, Jones, or Floyd.

if they aren't willing to hire someone who got the same type of minor infractions that Les Miles has gotten, we will never win in basketball again. There are some extremely clean coaches who would never cheat who have gotten minor infractions because their compliance department screwed up. It happens.

If the LSU admins really believe our Compliance Department is so good, we shouldn't have a problem with anyone who isn't blatantly handing out money to players.

good grief. he has no control of his teams...his players don't respect him. Pastner to LSU would thrill the memphis fans...they'd love to go get a real coach.

Exactly. Was anyone laying any odds on Les Miles or Trent Johnson more than 24 hours before they were hired?

Yeah I'm sure they would just love to have to hire a new coach right now.

I live here...Memphis basketball is all anyone talks about. I haven't heard anyone stick up for the guy, they all think he's done next to nothing with tons of talent. Granted, everyone here thinks Memphis should be contending for national championships every year ( ) so their expectations are a little skewed.

Hanagriff just RIPPED Johnson and called him lazy. I loved hearing it and even though he's not our coach anymore it pissed me off.

Good riddance.

I'll happily take him off their hands.
