Would be an outstanding hire, IMO. Recruits like hell, young so he could grow here, and would really revamp the excitement at the PMAC.

He's already making $1.7 million at Memphis. Is LSU going to open up the check book?
LSU will go over that but not much more than $2 million.

It's definitely a better gig than LSU for basketball.
Agree - for now. But this could change almost overnight.

Not even close.

i doubt it. Memphis is all basketball. It will always be behind football and probably baseball here. If they were great they could surpass baseball, but never football.

dixon would defintely be a "home run" hire. pastner wouldn't. if dixon is interested then throw 2.5 million at him and go from there.

Historically good basketball schools are only as good as the coach that is coaching them.
I don't think Memphis is currently a top 30 program. Whose fault is that? They were a top 5 program under Cal. Think about it

Would be a home run. And yes he would leave Memphis. Sec money is better than Memphis money.
Frank martin went to South Carolina from k state. Come on

Memphis could match any offer we make. I'm just not sure they would want to.

Memphis has plenty of money to counter if they choose to

what they said on the radio, he would take the job if they offered Memphis money.

Yep. Fred Smith could easily match any offer. They might not want to and Pastner might want a fresh start somewhere. Lots of unknown variables at play, but an intriguing possibility from LSU's perspective.

I could see it. His seat is warming up in Memphis. He may want a fresh start.

I think it'd be perfect. Hes looking for a new start and so are we. At least he sure as hell can recruit
Posted on 4/9/12 at 12:50 pm to filmmaker45
He's recruited nothing but guards to Memphis. He either cant recruit big men or doesnt believe in them.

His classes have been sick....well compared to ours.
Posted on 4/9/12 at 12:53 pm to tigerbru17
no doubt. It's also much easier to recruit to Memphis. I do agree that he is a good recruiter though.

Doesn't he have a big out of GA in this recruiting class? Shaq Goodwin maybe?
Posted on 4/9/12 at 12:54 pm to bbap
He's in Cals shadow. Maybe he wants his own legacy?
